The story bring back the stark reminder that taking family pets was indeed part of the initial proposal from MOJ way back in 2006. Thank goodness it was rejected in this country (but is still used in some foreign countries). I remember complaining at the time that such a proposal would result in aggressive action as we brits are by and large pet lovers.

If that happened here you'd find a few bailiffs ending up in hospital. Animals are family members and living creatures. Not property.

I can assure you that taking household pets was indeed a serious proposal back in 2006 (not I stress 'ordinary' pets but pedigree ones like the case in Russia.

 

PS: I actually have two pedigree British Shorthair cats myself (both sisters) and they are adored and I would guard them with my life.

So they wanted bailiffs to know all pedigree breeds of cats and dogs? They can barely get the basics of their job right, let alone have the knowledge to understand and identify pedigree animals.
