Hello Friends,

Yesterday, me and my wife had this bad experience at a carpet shop. After bargaining the price, when we decided to leave the shop without buying, the salesman asked me 'What happened?'. So I said that I will wait for being more closer to Christmas time.

Then the salesman gave very rude reply to us that "come after two three years and the prices will be low" and in a very condescending manner. My wife felt very bad and insulted about this.

Can I use any legislation to help me in this case here. Really help as my wife was almost in tears when she left the shop. I really want to fix that salesman.

Thanks for your replies.

Make a complaint to the stores head office or to the owner / manager of the store.

Theres no legislation on this, but only common courtesy...

Which company is it?

We could do with some help from you.

Just poor customer service, just upset because you didn't buy, no legislation out there, just explain to his H/O that you will be buying from a different company.

How would you like to 'fix' him?

You could ring his boss and get him a telling off, he might even get a written warning, or if you really want to fix him it might get him sacked, just before Christmas.

He's a salesman and likely to be disappointed that he didn't get a sale, even after you haggled with him. This is the season of goodwill, not retribution.

Goodwill shouldn't include accepting rudeness, though.

He works in sales. He should expect sometimes not to get a sale. Rudeness merely converts "may get sale, later" into "definitely won't get sale".

Rudeness just means he puts his employer and colleagues at risk as yet another customer leaves never to return.

If he doesn't want to get sacked before Xmas : don't be rude to customers.

Not sure what outcome you require ?

Simply write to either the Store Manager or if it is a chain store, then write to their Head / Registered office. Let them know that you were unhappy with the service. Although I don't see them doing anything as you didn't purchase anything and from what you have said above, it looks as though that wasn't your intention anyway.
