Hi,

Asking this for a friend who is new to the system.

She is having a tooth out on Friday and its her signing day. The job centre advised she would need to take a period of sickness as she is missing signing and a sickness form would need to be completed.

She asked for one when she informed them last Friday and was told they are not issued in advance and that she would complete it when she now has to go in and sign on Wednesday 10th December and her money would be delayed until the paperwork was processed.

When I have been ill previously, I submited my JSA28 on the day of signing so they knew I was ill and any delay to payment was minimal.

Is this the right way to do it?

Also I have found a JSA28 form online at the whatdotheyknow site but its dated 1011 so wondered if they had updated it at all or was this OK to use?

Thanks for the answers in advance

Does the extraction appointment coincide with the signing on time ?

If not, she may be better off doing both and saving the JSA28 for a time when she needs it the most. If the two appointments do conflict and it is not possible to reschedule one or the other, then fill in a JSA28. As far as I am aware, the JSA28 10/11 is still current - If isn't, the JCP should say so and provide a copy of the most recent version.

Tip: Take the full fourteen days and make the most of it - A claimant is only allowed to submit two JSA28 forms in any one year, and some people react badly to anesthetics.
