Hello

Can anybody advise me what to do.

I had a credit card with Natwest in 2002. I got into problems and ended up on a Debt Management Programme about 10 years ago. All the creditors defaulted my accounts except for Natwest. As a result my credit file shows a report of 6 and this has been happening for the past 10 years. All my defaults have dropped off my credit score. I stopped paying anything to natwest so that they would have to default me but they have still not defaulted this account and report a 6 every month. My credit file is clear now except for this account. Is there anything I can do to get this information corrected to its correct status. I have asked the bank and they won't change it.

Thank you

The credit file is correct if the debt has not been defaulted and closed, NW is obliged to report the true conduct of the account.

However this situation may be considered unfair as it does disadvantage you compared to a debtor who has made no effort to repay their debts and gets the entry removed after 6 years paid or not.

You will need to try a formal complaint at " director " level to NatWest pointing out he unfairness of their actions.

inform ICO and express you concern. They oversea the data protection act 1998

Before reporting to a regulator it is wise to attempt to rectify a problem directly in this case with the CRA and the creditor, a complaint to the regulator (if necessary) will have far more impact at this stage.

I must compliment you on advise you give on this forum keep up the good work.

Have you received spam tx?

Have you received unsolicited call at home?

Have you received calls from debt management company chasing for debt 15 years ago?

Have you receive calls from PPI or claim management?

I was not aware of ICO until recently and credit agency will not tell you if you don't agree will the outcome.

The ICO will advise any complainant of the actions it has been able to take and or what it has required a DCA or the CRAs to do to rectify a complaint.

Also no I do not receive " debt collection calls" and I have never taken PPI.
