Nope, but it's no laughing matter, it could prove to be catastrophic.

Many people think of bees simply as a summertime nuisance. But these

small and hard-working insects actually make it possible for many of your

favorite foods to reach your table. From apples to almonds to the pumpkin

in our pumpkin pies, we have bees to thank. Now, a condition known as

Colony Collapse Disorder is causing bee populations to plummet, which

means these foods are also at risk. In the United States alone, more than 25

percent of the managed honey bee population has disappeared since 1990.

1

Bees are one of a myriad of other animals, including birds, bats, beetles,

and butterflies, called pollinators. Pollinators transfer pollen and seeds

from one flower to another, fertilizing the plant so it can grow and produce

food. Cross-pollination helps at least 30 percent of the world’s crops and

90 percent of our wild plants to thrive.

2

Without bees to spread seeds,

many plants—including food crops—would die off.

bone to pick... People keep mentioning "bee" hornet/wasp is NOTHING like a bee. The reason that a wasp is more deadly is because their sting isn't a "single use instrument" as is the case with bees.

If you get zapped by a bee, it's sting is ripped out of it, usually pulling it's entrails out with it and it dies.

Wasps are cheeky little buggers and when annoyed WILL and SHALL attack you over and over.. Even when the poison "runs dry"...

Believe be, I've been nailed by my fair share of both :D

To add: Wasps actively hunt, bee's don't :)

Just watched them on telly sitting at the entrance to a hive and eating the bees as they come out.

It might be a worry, but the people in asia are doing alright and they've always had them, so it might be a shame,

but won't be the end of the world, especially as there is nothing we can do to stop them.

They've actually found their way to France, no not the end of the world, we will just have to see how devastating they are. There is a lot that can be done.
