My daughter (Mini Vamp.. MV), age 12, isn't interested in joining the group - obviously, duuurh. She has, however, given me permission to tell you her story on her behalf, in case it can help anyone.

About a year ago MV had a magazine subscription paid by direct debit from her Natwest account. (Teach them early I say!) She then cancelled the subscription, but the direct debit was still requested... automated systems once again.

Natwest bounced the DD as it would put her account overdrawn. She had no overdraft facility being only 11 at the time.

Natwest then applied charges for bouncing the DD which took MV's account overdrawn anyway.

I marched down to the bank with MV and went bananas. Once I mentioned the fact (pointed out to me by Spiceskull) that they aren't allowed to give minors credit facilities they backed down pretty sharpish and refunded her charges.

Hope this story is of some use to someone.

By the way, for any of you awake and taking notice, MV would have had a location of "The basement in Vampiress's Gothic Cathedral". ;)

Another nail in their coffin I say.

It just shows what they get away with. 1 in 10 would probably have just paid that - do you think they would be so sheepish then, if they had not been confronted?

No, neither do I.

Cowboys in pin-striped suits.

That's all.

To mutilate Sham 69:

"Natwest Boys, Natwest Boys,

Pinstripe suits, not cordruoys.

Natwest Boys Natwest Boys,

They call us the banking cowboys!"
