One of the big problems about the OFT is they they have no targets and aren't really answerable to anyone - there is no tribunal etc.

If they make some promise to you tomorrow I think that you ought to ask for targets for commencement of investigation, for completion, for publication of conclusion. For conferring with you and The Bank Action Group - or who ever you nominate during the investigation and report preparation.

I think that they ought to give this to you in writing for release to the press as a statement. They won't want to do any of this, of course. I also think that they should promise to reveal to you for publication what portion of £35 is actually expenses. So that if it really is all expenses then we acan all admit we were worng and find something better to do.

I also think that a trump card is the McNamara soundfile in the library. Have you listened to this? You should make notes from it and quote it to the OFT and say that we will make it available to the OFT as evidence in their investigation.

Incidentally I think you should compell Peter McNamara to attend court and give evidence in your case against the 8 banks. If he is prepared to stand by his radio interview - and it will be tricky for him not to then you will win your case.
