Hi.

I am trying to get my credit file back on track and have managed to pay off some debts but

I have 3 defaulted accounts still on there all was from Littlewoods catalogue that Lowell has now took over.

The accounts are 3 years old and altogether total £1120.

I am going to offer a full and final settlement amount just to get rid of this debt

and with the hope that removing something negative off my credit file will be better for me in the long run (is that how it works though?)

Plus im sick of the letters, phonecalls and texts.

I know it is my own fault so im trying to sort it.

Could somebody please advise me on what I should offer?

Im hoping they might accept a reduced amount.

Thanks for your help.

paying the debt will neither improve [as such]

nor remove bad things from your CRa file

what is there is there until the debt falls off

on any defaulted dates 6th birthday paid or not.

have you thought about reclaiming

PENALTY [£12] fees and PPI? on them

have you all the statements?

if not your next move is an SAR

I would not, at this stage

offer an F&F. until you have all the statements

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

I have just read other peoples threads regarding lowell and its got me thinking now should I offer to pay??

I am totally fed up off the pestering and threats of door step collection etc. That I do think god ill have to pay. But obviously this is just wat they want then isnt it?

So the emails I get from them saying how this debt is damaging my credit file

and it wont go away ao contact them now is just a load of rubbish really?

My credit wont be any worse or better if I did pay it?

a paid up debt obv 'looks better'

but if you have say a 'default' or any other 'bad' news in the file on that debt

nothing you can do about it sadly.

its there for 6yrs or until the default date listed in the debt summary hits 6yrs

then THE WHOLE FILE [debt] vanishes from your record , paid or not

[so thus will not be 'hurting' your score after that]

however, it DOES NOT mean the debt is gone.

further investigation, like say a CCA request, is need to establish those facts.

what you need to remember about the whole debt 'industry'

is it relies on 'threats'

read the letter CAREFULLY.....

nowhere do they say WILL anything

may might could instructed minded etc etc.

a DCA is NOT A BAILIFF

and they have NO SUCH LEGAL POWERS.

have a good look at PPI and PENALTY charges reclaiming [£12 fees late/over/letter etc etc]

they ar ALL unlawful and can be RCLAIMED at their int rate.

see the links below.
