HI, am a bit worried... have been told that even though I have cancelled my debit card any payments already set up on it will continue to be taken.. is this true?? am taking a cpa cancellation letter into bank tomorrow but this will be too late if the above is true.

This is technically correct in that if you went shopping and paid with your card then cancelled it your shopping would still go through. However the PDLs should not be asking for the money until tomorrow so if they have your old card details it should get declined.

Any opinion I give is from personal experience .

Thanks for this.. since they are reluctant to give me details... I too am trying to deal with everything via email and recorded delivery letter... I don't want any misunderstandings..

am very grateful for all advice and support..will be sending £85 to lending stream tomorrow to clear one loan .. and am working on proposal to clear other two and also Swift sterling... so far so good.

Hope you don't mind me hyjacking your thread rysgran, as we are in the exact same position i thought it was okay

I had an answerphone message from 'John henderson' at swift and he said longer term repayment terms weren't an option but he had sent me payment options which is when i sent them £50 for the £519 i owe. He implied that whomever my debt is moved on to they would be able to sort out repayment plans, but he didn't want me to get that far. ((so caring lol))

In regards to lending steam i have ordered a payment card online for a fiver but i can load it for free whenever i like, and as lending stream have an online payment option i too will clear one of my three loans with them when the payment card come.

Rysgran, have they come back to you with repayment plans?? and freeezing interest?? i'm still waiting for further replies to my e-mails but im paying them bits anyway.

thank you rodgerramjet, ill just keep paying them bits until they reply, im on holiday next week and i have made payments to each company today. although my card was reported stolen and neither PDL have managed to take any money from my account, im paranoid one of them will try to set up a sneaky direct debit and as its center parcs im off to, signal is crap, so can't keep checking online banking. is this likely that they could do that?

You can take a letter to your bank like I was advised to and state that any and all payments to the listed company's are unauthorised. Think it's wage day advance that do the sneaky direct debits but direct debits need your signature so if it wasn't in the loans terms and conditions they can't do it.

Can you get a new bank account setup before you go? Nationwide are doing a good flex account that you can apply online for

Just been to the bank and spoke to the manager after 3 payments were taken by 2 loan companies on Friday. He said that all CPA''s have now been stoppped and apologised for the misinformation I was given. However as the payments that were taken on Friday had been authorised before the CPA cancellation was requested I had no chance of getting my money back. Is this Correct? He's saying that as the companies had previously called for the money and authorised the payments, then the cancellation of the CPA on Thursday was already too late and nothing could be done regarding those payments. Seems a bit of a cop out considering all payments were techinically authorised at some point?

Sorry Nate I don't know if you can fight it, worth trying the visa dispute teams tell them bank knew on Thursday that the CPA was cancelled maybe they will reclaim the money.

It's what lloyds told me I'd have to do but they had my letter and put notes on the system that stated payments weren't legal

Nate I am so sorry to hear that.seems to me that the banks are on the loan companies side..... my rent standing order went out first thing yesterday and I was at bank when they opened to draw out all money that was not earmarked for dd's going out today and tomorrow... Swift sterling tried to debit at 10 but payment was blocked and in anycase there was not enough money in account by that point....

My new debit card came this morning.. so I am once again able to use internet(I couldn't top up my dongle yesterday).

so far have had only one phone call from Swift sterling... told them I would be in touch within 48 hours with a payment proposal.... however have received an email tonight from Mr Henderson.. perhaps he is the only one who works there.... saying they are trying to debit my account again tomorrow..

Lending stream have phoned several times.. they seem to be having trouble understanding the situation... one word of warning for other people who might be tempted.. they offered me another loan to " help with my situation", was not tempted but of course it would involve giving my new debit card details and me being cynical suspect that was the object of the exercise.

Have been working on my income and expenditure account and will let you know how things go.

By the way took letter into Halifax yesterday to cancel CPA and the counter clerk seemed to think I was making a fuss about nothing, explained that it was to give me peace of mind.. but they just do not seem to want the trouble of dealing with things like that.

yes have issued complaint.... have received email from Lending stream asking me to fill out their income and expenses sheet. which as far as I can tell is not much different to the one I have already sent... but they have asked for a photo of my wage slip.... now I have nothing to hide about my income but am slightly worried that they might want to gleam other information from it... any ideas? am I just being paranoid?

They have NO rights to a wage slip and for that matter, a bank statement. Tell them to go play with traffic.

hi all... just an update to where I am with all this...... have sent Lending stream an income and expenses sheet and have heard nothing since..... have sent first of my proposed payments via the banking details received from this site..

Have had no joy with Swift sterling yet.. have sent them the same income /expenses plan and nothing.... today I sent them another email requesting their banking details for payment and have also sent copy by recorded delivery.

Did wonder if this weeks publicity about payday loan companies was responsible for the silence from lending stream but perhaps this is normal for them.

Hi Rysgran, just an update on my situation as im in exactly the same boat as you!! Lending stream were very helpful, i sent back via email my payslip and Income and Expenditure and they agreed £50 per month for first 3 months then £60 after that - interest and charges frozen until debt cleared, i just needed to tell them a payment date i would like.

Swift sterling were a lot harder but im finally sorted!! after many phone calls and text from my 'case manager' a John Henderson, he sent me a text saying that they don't do repayment plans but if i call him he could try and help and if i pay money back then i can reloan as soon as 2 hours later. (yeah really helpful if im struggling!) he said he had my 'file' until 20th march after that it would be passed to debt collection agency who 'may' operate a door collection policy!!

I replied via e-mail (i never ever rang) saying as he can't offer me a repayment plan of the £50 a month i could afford, i am happy for him to pass my file over to the debt collection agency who could help me with a repayment plan.

I then receive an e-mail from 'support' at swift sterling saying they agree to accept my offer of £50 per month via faster payment by the last working day of the month. all interest and charges frozen!! until the debt is paid so THEY could help me afteralll! I never even sent them an I and E or payslip!! they also said they would cease calling and texting me.

hope this helps anyone else and my advice just e-mail-never ring!

Why on earth are you sending personal info such as a payslip? By doing that, you are justifying their business ethics and causing worry for other people who have had loans from them.

It was my choice to take out the loan and I needed to resolve it and did what they asked. im happy with the outcome now. i think the payslip thing is common from what i have read.

Its also classed as private and confidental info to which they have NO rights at all to even ask for.
