Hi everyone,

i have received a letter from ruthbridge yesterday asking me to contact them,

so i contacted them not thinking much of it,

it turns out they are asking for payment for a 6,000 loan from when i was young and stupid!

which i made my last payment may 2007

but i have not made a payment since as i was not in a good place to at this point and nobody has contacted me until yesterday.

apart from this i have no debts and was agreed a good morgage back in march of this year which i thought was the start of a whole new life.

please can someone advise me of the best thing to do next?

i have also check my credit report, experian show that my report was good 900+ with this debt not showing then i looked at checkmyfile which show it and the report was not as good.

I would say stop contact with them, and see what they do next I suspect the usual threatograms but when you dont contact them the debt will become statute barred in May 2013 so can no longer be chased so stay off phone to them

I know my rights Mr DCA I'm with the CAG......hello hello where you gone Mr DCA8)

Hi welcome to CAG,

Once a debt reaches the bottom of the pond with Ruthbridge it's got many probleme and is usually stat barred or nearly so.

This seems to be the case here, please do not phone this company they are known to attempt to intimidate, luckily verbal contact does not reset the statute barred clock.##

Are you sure of the last payment date, and does the debt show on your credit reference files.

The Ruthbridge threat cycle is depressingly predictable.

You'll get one soon threatening to make you bankrupt while offering you a massive discount.

They may even offer you advice on debt management, something they are no longer allowed to do.

In every case keep the letters carefully and bide your time.

They will eventually give up but responding to them, even to tell them to bog off, encourages them to fire off even more letters.

Early next year the matter become staute barred and then you tell to skulk back under their stone.

And if they don't you can safely swat them away with complaints to all and sundry.

Hi,

Thank you for your advice,

yes the debt shows on my checkmyfile report as may 2007 last contact, it also states this will be no longer reported from may 2013.

do you think its time to send a letter?

Ah I see you have check Experian, so I suggest that you check Equifax too.

Checkmyfile should be told that their data is wrong if Equifax shows the same result as Experian.

Leave the letter unti Ruthbridge write again.

i have just checked equifax which shows the debt with the same dates

do you think still not send a letter?

Ok, as you have contacted them by phone I would leave it until they start writting again, then send them a ''prove it'' letter, use up some time.!!
