Hello....been here a while and found some extremely useful info, so first of all I want to say a massive THANKS!!!

I am seeking advice on my current car finance agreement.

I have just under 2 months arrears.

It was due to be paid off in October, so I would assume that it would now be paid off in december.

When i rang them they quoted an outstanding amount of £1400 which is 6 months payments!!!

I do have some £25 charges in there,

but as I have NEVER had a statement I cant remember how many.

Also on the agreement the option fee is added at the start of the agreement but they claim I need to pay it with my final payment.

Could the initial option fee be for something else?

Shelly :o)

I have gap but not PPI, at least there is no mention of it on my agreement.

They are insistent that it does not end until november (later now as I have the arrears)

but my agreement CLEARLY states October.

Sending a letter today to request statement from inception (I have NEVER) had one, so they better comply). Will know a bit more then :O))

  • 2 months later...

Have now FINALLy got a copy of my cca. It concerns me that the amount payable includes the 'option fee' of £120 yet they still state this is payable extra with the last payment. This would surely mean they have had it twice, along with interest as they have front loaded it? Anyone advise? Thanks in advance :o)

While it may be on the agreement it doesn't mean to say that it is paid along with the monthly instalment. The option to purchase fee is usually paid with the last instalment.

However, it could be worth you posting the agreement up for us to have a look at it.

Hi, not sure (despite your clear instructions) whether I have done this correctly but here goes.........

The thing I am concerned about is total charge which includes the option fee. It is added to the total charge for credit....the figures work if they include this....so how come I have to pay it again? :|

Thanks for that, it really doesn't take much to confuse me and having seen it in the total charge for credit I assumed it was being paid in the monthly amounts....maths refreshers classes might help!!! I do have a few more axes to grind with this company, not least a discrepancy on how much the outstanding amount is, but I am awaiting their reply to my request for statements showing all payments since inception. I do appreciate you looking at this for me, thanks again :)

  • 11 months later...

I am ALMOST free of this.

Have an agreement to pay slightly less than the original monthly payment

but am now down the the last few hundred.

Put the account into dispute in July as it transpires that they have me owing a couple of hundred more than my reckoning

(which they cant explain and are 'looking into it')

They sent a field agent out 3 times in the last two months.......despite the fact that i am paying them.

Today they rang and informed me that they have added £100 charges for the field agents fees........surely they cant do this?

The field agent said he had come to see if I would 'hand the car back' to which I replied

'No chance mate its almost paid for and why are you here when I am paying BCT?'

He shook his head and said he would hand the paperwork back to Bct.

Are they legally entitled to pass this cost on to me?

Seems a bit naughty as there was really NO reason for him to attend :(

By my reckoning I owe £311, then some late payment interest. They are charging me £100 for 4 letters and £100 for the field agent. I get that these are 'penalties'. I havent paid them yet and shall be offering a settlement based on my calculations, so we shall see :)

Have just spent half hour on the phone with them.

Apparently they acted on my complaint about unfair charges/fees and removed them all from my account,

but then stuck £300 repossession fee on.

As they cannot and have not repossessed my car

I argued that I was not liable for this.

Result was, £311 paid and ownership transferred :)
