Hi to all fellow Halifax dis-satisfied customers.

I have written to Halifax (just a personal letter, not a Data Protection letter) asking for all charges on my account over the last 6 years. It took them about 4 weeks to reply but have now just asked me for a payment of £5 for this 'statement'

Is this correct?

If not, where can I see a copy of the Data Protection Letter??

Thanks people!

Kelly

Kelly they can ask for payments for statements.

Under the DPA the maximum they can charge is 10.00.

They have charged you a fiver but if you later need to ask for DPA info it will cost you 10.00.

Some banks will charge you a fiver some more and some nothing.

You can be certain if you have asked for the 6 years they will know the underlying reason...............

At least you are now on the ladder to recovering the charges.

Start a thread in the bank section so we can all follow your progress.....and you can ask any questions that may need answering later.

Oh dear are we expected to feel sorry for them?

She should be happy that we have given her a chance to get some overtime in and get some extra cash as well.

I dont expect for one minute that the 40 day deadline for compliance will be legally extended for the benefit of the banks..........who have brought all this entirely on themselves due to commercial greed

much better to use a postal order tho as they count this as cash.

You may find they will send it back anyway and you can get it refunded at the P.O.

Received A reply today from another Customer Relations office, stating they would investigate the points i've risen regarding unlawful penalty charges, have already requested my 6 years of charges and they will be delivered within 5-7 days at a charge of £5, and they will reply to me within 4 weeks, when i requested the 6 years of statements the guy i spoke to was quite amusing as i was the 1st person he was having to do this for, everyone else in the office had already had a go, so he knew what i was looking for. ;-)
