Hi all,

I purchased an lg tv on the 29th of April 2011. At the end of feb this year the hdmi connections stopped working. I contacted comet and arranged an engineer to come out the following Friday. I thought great, have it fixed in no time.

The engineer arrived and had a quick look around the tv, tested it and then told me its the main board and he will need to order the part. I was a little frustrated but can understand that they can't carry parts for all items.

2 weeks pass and another engineer visits with the part, takes it out of the box, looks at the tv and tells me that they have ordered the wrong part. I am very annoyed at this and he tells me they will order the part and it should be done in another 2 weeks!

I receive a call from comet last week to tell me unfortunately the part has been damaged in transit and they will have to re order the part from LG! He advised me this should only take a few days as they will prioritise it. I call up today and I'm told that it has only been. Week and it can take up to another 7 days for the part to arrive!

Can anyone help me with this, where do I stand on this issue? Am I within my rights to take the tv back to comet and have them exchange it? I know I have to allow the retailer to try and repair the item but it has been almost 2 monts now with no attempt to fix the TV.

Regards

Steve

Hi Steve ,

This seems about right these days , Wrong Parts , Damaged parts , long wait for Parts , all in all shocking after Sales Service from COMET.

They have been making an attempt to repair your Tv but not a very good one it would seem .

Probably best emailing the directors office with your concerns,

bob.darke@comet.co.uk

and see what their response is .

No excuse for the Engineer ordering the the wrong board provided he took the correct information from the Tv Model, Serial Number and Factory Number, but then again it was probably an ex stock part from somewhere that was given to the second Engineer.

I do not think taking it back to a Retail Store will solve anything at this moment as they will not be interested and will just send it away for repair.

Wait on a reply from the Directors Office hopefully the correct part will arrive shortly and all will be well .

Keep us informed of any progress good or bad ,

Regards

GorgieBoy
