    faulty LG tv

Hi all, I purchased an lg tv on the 29th of April 2011. At the end of feb this year the hdmi connections stopped working. I contacted comet and arranged an engineer to come out the following Friday. I thought great, have it fixed in no time. The engineer arrived and had a quick look around the tv, tested it and then told me its the main board and he will need to order the part. I was a little frustrated but can understand that they can't carry parts for all items. 2 weeks pass and another engineer visits with the part, takes it out of the box, looks at the tv and tells me that they have ordered the wrong part. I am very annoyed at this and he tells me they will order the part and it should be done in another 2 weeks! I receive a call from comet last week to tell me unfortunately the part has been damaged in transit and they will have to re order the part from LG! He advised me this should only take a few days as they will prioritise it. I call up today and I'm told that it has only been. Week and it can take up to another 7 days for the part to arrive! Can anyone help me with this, where do I stand on this issue? Am I within my rights to take the tv back to comet and have them exchange it? I know I have to allow the retailer to try and repair the item but it has been almost 2 monts now with no attempt to fix the TV. Regards Steve
