No not yet as everything is still suspended and not actually stopped. They have not decided one way or another what they are doing or at least they have not let us or his solicitor know anything.
So it's not a case of innocent until proven guilty! It's absolutely ruthless. What they're getting away with. I was went thought the IAC on Wednesday, it's basically because I work too I'm hemiplegic and have a DIY down job & they're asking how I manage to hold a job down, the same way is sit in the couch doing nothing!! it's a desk job. Where I'd the logic? No doubt I'll be in the same position as your son soon. I won't be able to work without my car. How long did it take them to decide this? did the look at his medical records before calling him a liar? I'm sure he'll be ok despite the stress they've put him under its very difficult with one had and not very good legs to use public transport. I feel for him :(

Motability actually talked to the dwp on his behalf and tried to get a decision earlier to see if he could keep the car but no, and we asked if if he could continue to pay for the car himself until the matter was finally decided but still no so they arranged for the guys from general auctions to collect it (they were really nice) and it went straight to auction they gave him around 4 weeks all in to get things organised, which did help as we had to get him another car and as I said we have had to get into debt for this or he would have had to give up work. His gp and consultants have said IF the dwp do persist with this and it does go any further they will back him every step as will his manager. I can`t see why they can put people through all this when they have so much medical evidence.

That's what annoys me. It's not as if he claimed he can't walk and was then filmed doing a marathon.

I know. I won't be able to get myself in debt I'm a single parent I'll have no choice but to lose my independence stay home & claim benefits. I ve prepared myself for the worst let's face it's just the same as when maggie closed down institutions it's not about need its about the lower & working class paying. They are not interested in how it will affect the individual or the lower class society. I have two children to get to school too I don't know what I'm going to do! To say I'm anxious is an understatement I can't think of anything else

I too hate Dave Cameron and I hate the people that that see anyone that claims a benefit of any description as a scrounger without knowing the circumstances. We have become a nation of nosey parkers (the words of my sons solicitor) We still have not had any word yet from the dwp but I keep telling myself its no news is good news. The not knowing is getting to me now as its going on 13 weeks now.

How long does it normally take them to come to some sort or decision? The stress has been terrible for all of us but especially for my son who through all of this has struggled at work and has now become very depressed. He is now seeing a counsellor and the gp has increased some of his medication to help cope with the stress.

My son has just found out that today that one of the people that gave a statement on his behalf has been contacted and that someone from the DWP is going out to see them next week regarding the statement, so maybe it may not be that much longer before we hear what is going to happen. It has been so long and it has really taken its toll on his health.

Well my son has eventually heard from dwp and they say he is not entitled to DLA any longer which is a joke as he is much worse now than he has been for years. The solicitor, doctors and the mp are all prepared to help him so, we are going to fight this every step of the way.

They have said that he is not in pain and that his condition has improved. Now he has not one but several progressive conditions all of which are extremly painful. The gp said he could not believe they have come to this decision. Part of the explanation states that he is able to answer a telephone (part of his job) therefore he cannot have a problem with his hands. It is not about the money it is about the fact he has been put through so much and he now has to prove he is genuinely ill, even though all his doctors supplied letters etc. We are going to appeal as its just unreal to think that they can say someone can get well when they have progressive conditions that there is no cure for. They are basically saying his doctors are telling lies.

They awarded him the DLA on the basis of the forms that the doctors and specialists filled in for him as his main condition is rare and causes so much pain along with changes to the bones. He has never done anything wrong in his life so to be considered a benefit fraud is now tearing him apart but, we will fight this. I would not wish his illness on anyone and I do hope that none of these people who just accuse people of being frauds do not ever become ill themselves and need to claim a benefit as they may just find out what its like.

Well we had meeting with the gp this morning who has been very helpful and he has said he will do everything in his power to help my son, and he is contacting the doctors at the hospital too. Our MP has been in touch and he is coming to see us and he is 100% behind us too, it really does give me some hope and I feel that my son will cope better with the knowledge that these people are going to fight with him.
