I have received a PPI settlement offer for my Co op visa card which is in default, it is worth about 50% of the outstanding balance.

The account is with Fredricksons on a monthly payment scheme.

In the letter Co op say the debt was wriiten off in 2009 and Fred are collecting payments on their behalf.

I am thinking of making a settlement offer, has any one any experience of how Fred will react and what level of discount they are accepting.

You need to make yourself a little clearer.

My understanding of your post is that the Co-op have made you an offer on a PPI reclaim which amounts to 50% of a debt that has been assigned/sold to Fredericksons. The Co-op are unable to apply this to the account because it has been written off their books. Normally they wouldnt be allowed to pay a 3rd party.

You want to make an offer in Full and Final settlement to Frederickson in order to get shot of the debt once and all, perhaps using the funds from the PPI claim.. yes ?

If you were to do this.. you should start low.. around 10-15% of what is outstanding. You should not part with any money until they have provided to you.. in writing .. assurances that the amount you give them is accepted as a Full and final settlement and that they confirm they will not make any attempt to pursue you for any balance nor will they pass any balance on to another company for collection at a kater date.

I am sure there will be others who will be able to help you draft a letter.
