Downside is that one is not "E Ink" so you won't benefit from the anti-glare or the extended battery life. As always you need to compromise something to gain something else, so it's whatever suits your usage that counts :)

To be honest, the technology behind handheld devices such as iPad and android tablets is still fast moving, and by the time that one is affordable, there will be much more powerful solutions available, maybe incorporating 1080p blu-ray players etc. I'd even go as far as saying, I expect the new Nintendo console up for release next year (aka Wii U) will have Ebook facility, as that controller looks surprisingly close to an iPad.

Personally, I never look at a piece of tech and think "I'll have one of them when they become affordable" as by this time there will generally be something cheaper and better. I find something better value, something that is not just based on its "name" (like Archos or A1CS over the Samsung Galaxy Tab saves about 1/3rd the price, and they're all about the same on specs)

Yeah, there are some nice devices coming up, glad there is a thread that discusses them.

If in doubt, contact a qualified insured legal professional (or my wife... she knows EVERYTHING)

After reading about the Kindle Fire I am going to stick to my Kindle 3g, I like the fact tht all I do on the Kindle is read and not play with games etc, (I don't play many PC games anyway) and it is easy to download stuff onto it.

At the moment money is tight and I can't afford an expensive toy, when I can I will shop around - like I did when I was looking for a new laptop.
