Someone owes me £1500 in Scotland

Hi,

I sent a cheque for £1500 to a private individual in Scotland for goods advertised on the internet (not on an auction site). The sale was agreed after several emails and we made an agreement that he would send the goods as soon as the cheque cleared. It's been two weeks and no sign of the goods and my emails are going unanswered.

I thought i could file a claim using the Money Claim online website but I was advised by MCOL that i cannot file a claim against this person as i live in england, and this person resides in scotland. They could not give me a phone number or website to get more info on how i can proceed to file a claim against this person. I am really at a loss to find out how i should proceed...any help is greatly appreciated.

Go to the sheriff courts website. It will tell you what you need to know and the contact details of the court nearest this person if you wanted to phone and speak to someone.
