eReader and eBooks : Kindle 3 reboot problem

My Kindle - which I've had for about 3 months starting to reboot itself about 6 or 7 times per hour while I was reading it.

 

I have a cover with a light in it.

 

I emailed Kindle and they replied pretty quickly saying that if I updated the firmware to 3.0.3 from my exisiting 3.0.2 that it would probably fix the problem.

 

I'm pleased to say that it seems to have done the trick.

 

The firmware upgrade was very quick - took about 6 minites to do. At the moment the upgrade is in beta so I don't think that it is directly available to the Kindle - meaning it won't auto-upgrade. I had to download it onto my PC and then copy it across. Very easy for me to do but could be tricky for some people.

 

Anyway, that's the heads up - in case you get the same problem.

Thanks for sharing that BF, I'd heard of some issue with the metal connectors in the cover causing problems but that was it until now.

 

Will wait to see if a) develop the fault or b) Amazon recommend everybody upgrades.
