ah sorry not an acer an advent then...

 

5401, that should be a tw7 chassis - i.e. serial number has TW7 in it

 

large S shaped plate on the bottom of it, ask the store to whip this cover off, should be less than 6 screws and it just lifts off.

 

my bet is on the common temp mistake of fitting a board with an nvidia chip when you dont have a heatsink that covers that.

EDIT: ignore the fact this one says phillips they all use the same boards

 

sometimes people fit the wrong board/heatsink so that lower part of the copper heatsink is missing, or the old board didnt have a chip there so didnt need that heatsink and theyved fitted a board that now needs it.

 

easyest way to tell is if that cover comes off and you can see a small chip labled "nvidea" where that small copper cover should be then they have fitted the wrong board and it doesnt matter how many times people clean the fan, or how fast it runs it will NEVER stop overheating untill it has the right board or new heatsink

 

the other problem is they cannot get those mbds new anymore so are using repaired boards
