Hi,

Not sure if this is the best forum for this question - sorry if it isn't.

I recently checked my credit score with Experian and it was poor! This was down to taking out a loan and a new credit card 6 months ago to cover a wedding - and also I have no property in my name (it's in my wife's name),

The advise on the Experian site was to not apply for any credit for the next 6 months and to reduce the outstanding debt as much as possible.

Now, it's time to upgrade my phone (monthly contract) but I'm worried that this will involve a new credit check and could mess up attempts to improve my score.

Does anyone know if I stay with my current phone company but upgrade to a new phone and contract will effect my score? And if moving over to another phone company would result in re-scoring too?

Thanks

Hi,

I've got a garbage credit score and never have any probs getting an upgrade on contracts. I'm with Vodafone and had the contracts for donkeys years.

Any advice I give is honest and in good faith.:)

Thanks - but it's not getting the contract I'm worried about - it whether applying for one will make my credit scoring worse. But from what Dizzle said, I'll keep with Vodafone.

Cheers

Hi 900se,

I'd thought I'd pop on here to provide an official reply to assure you that upgrading your existing line with us will not require us to carry out an additional credit check.

We would only do this if you made enquiries about adding another line to your account.

In the event you approached another provider about a pay monthly agreement then you will credit checked by them.

Thanks and should you require any further help just let me know.
