Lucky old me - today received a letter from Mr Andrew Woo, Principal Assurance Manager for the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC).

Apparently, someone with my surname died intestate (it was spelled interstate! :D) in China recently leaving $9.65 million.

All I have to do is respond to him by email, fax or phone and the bank will contact me to confirm that Mr Slick (dec'd) has "willed" me the money. Then Tianjin Investments will pay me.

He continues, "I know this might be a bit heavy for you but please trust me on this. For all your troubles, I propose we split the money in half. In banking circle, this happens every time."

He finishes saying he's a family man with a wife and kids and wants me to keep this just between ourselves. He realises this is not without a measure of risk but nothing ventured, nothing gained. Success and riches never come easy or on a platter of gold, so contact him asap.

So now that I'll be filthy rich, you may not see me around any more. ;)

But how's this for a coincidence. When Mrs Slick came home from work, she said her boss, who has a different surname, was also written to today by Mr Woo to say another man died interstate and her boss should contact Mr Woo for his half share of ANOTHER $9.65 Million.

How wierd is THAT !!

When this news broke, earlier this evening, I asked Slick what he planned to do about all the begging letters.

He replied that it wouldn't be a problem....... He'd still continue to send them.

I did say to one of them that phoned me and said a long lost relative died that they should pay one of my debtors first.... they hung up... wonder why

There seems to be a spate of these going round again, including all the banks I've never had an account with and the supposed Paypal problems.....

Please can everyone watch out for elderly relatives who may not be internet savvy on these scams.

I'm sending a copy of my letter to Consumer Direct.

If this IS a [problem], I'm sure they'll visit Mr Woo and give him a very stern talking-to !!

Only problem is - Mr Woo forgot to include his address on my letter.;)

Mr Woo used to own a laundry. I am sad to see that the business was a flop. Apparently he shouted 'what a hope' as he chewed a bar of soap. I kid you not!!!!! This was in the news not long ago. He ended up cleaning windows.

In fact here is the news item:
