Natwest ppi claim started **WON**

My wife took out a loan 2 years ago with natwest. So far she has paid approx 1195 in ppi on the loan with another 2 years to go.

After reading about claiming back ppi on another site i have this week sent a letter off to natwest to claim this back as we were told at the time of getting the loan that we would have to have ppi to be accepted.

The letter was sent 3 days ago to the branch that dealt with the loan. I will keep you updated on how this carrys on . Any good advice will be listened to with thanks.

loan taken on 27/07/07

First repayment taken on 16/08/07 then monthly.

I received a confirmation letter today saying they have received my letter to claim.They have given a scale of eight weeks.

Should i wait to see what they come back with? Or should i send inthe figure that i want to claim now?

Yes indeed and its higher because the interest and s69 statutory interest is fractured into the amount owed.

Any offer they give you is likely to be wrong, they need to know right away that you know what you are talking about and will not take to any half baked offer so in answer to this question yes get those figures sent to them a.s.a.p.

PF i'm going for a claim on a store card, This will be more complicated as it stratches back about 8 years and of course it will have variations on how much ppi was paid each month as its approx 1.50 per hundred pounds of the balance.

Would you be able to help with the workings out of this one once i've received back the SAR?

I had noticed !

Well i had a reply from Natwest today. This is the 2nd letter from them. The first was to confirm my case with them, after which i sent them your figures. The letter i received today basically said that they cwere not going to continue with my claim as they did not know which loan it referred to.

Very strange. I think its just them trying to stall, so another letter is going off to them Monday.

Its true that in my letter giving them the figure a wanted to claim , that i didn't include the loan agreement number. But i did include their case reference number that they gave to me, which related to my first letter which indeed "Did" have the agreement number on it.

Its not rocket science is it?

Or maybe their case numbers don't actually mean anything?

Anyway my new letter will include all copies of letters sent and received, so hopefully they will be able to understand what i am claiming and from which loan we have with them. (shouldn't be hard as we only have the one)

further update.

 

Received letter from natwest yesterday. They seem to have picked up on a loan i had previously to the above mentioned.

Thay have calculated they owe 495.68 including interest on this one and are asking if i will accept this. What do you think?

Should i go for this or should i push for the other 8% interest on top[?

Also they have not said anything as yet about the loan i have with them now?

unfortunatly i don't. This loan only ran for about 6 to 8 months. so i guess the figure is not a bad one though

just checked thoroughly but can't find any details relating to this earilier loan. It was a smaller loan and was not long after that we paid it off with the now current loan that i am claiming for.

I think that as this seems to be bonus that they have looked at a previous loan, i shall accept the £495 and be grateful as i was not expecting this . Then i shall carry on with my original claim.

Ok back to my original claim.

Natewst have sent me an update letter, apologising they have not yet finished investigating my claim during the 4 week period that they stated.

They have now given me another 4 weeks estimated completion time.

Not sure if that spells good or bad news but hey ho time will tell

Hi all

 

Just received a letter from natwest this morning.

They have cancelled the ppi on the loan and credited back any future ppi (£662) to the account, so now the monthly payment is lower.

 

The offer of "goodwill" refund is £1,035.58 . Not bad, but i am confused though .

This is the same sort of figure that i came to when just adding up the monthly amounts it stated on our paperwork. So it doesn't contain the 8% interest that we tried to claim a court would award us.

Also Pompeyfaith kindly worked out the figures on this one for me of which i sent in with the claim, but these figures were considerably higher, About £3400 including all the interest.

So have the bank got it wrong or have they worked it out in a different way to how us caggers would do it ?

Just wondering how i should proceed with this?

A letter asking for how they came to their figures? or a big yes i'll take the money and run?

Or should i just get them to look at it again? what about the 8% interest?

 

Sorry so many questions, its difficult to concentrate at the moment with 2 complicated claims going on plus all the stresses of life.

Just need a little guidance

This offer has not been calculated as per the FOS guidelines.

 

What they have done is calculated total payments made then calculated what the payments would have been without the PPI.

 

Then taken off one from the other and offered you the difference.

 

they have not addressed the PPI policy cost which should be returned if paid up or taken off the loan if still current they also have not correctly addressed the interest 8% stat should be paid otherwise this would have been a free loan from you to them.
