Lisa, do you have any spreadsheet software e.g. Excel or Open Office ? (Open Office is free and available for both Windows and Linux platforms)

I'm thinking Andy may want some layout like this which is easily sorted :-

Statmement Date Credit Debit Reference Comments

10 Feb 2004 20,150.00 NWB loan funds
10 Feb 2004 4,691.09 repay loan
10 Feb 2004 10,154.99 repay loan

etc .........
                     __________ _________
Total Credit 20,150.00 14,846.08 Total Debit
                     ___________ _________

I think this would make it easier to explain to the Court i.e. including the exact date in the month, along with the RatsNest reference for it.

Once you've put it in a spreadsheet, you can sort it by date, add up totals for credit and debit for a given period easily etc.

To display it on this Thread...you could attach your document using the edit --advanced options or just copy and paste your data into the reply box and wrap it in PHP tags (another advance edit option) - I mean we can work out the display stuff once you've got the figures laid out.

This is the way Accountants would lay out such figures. This is the way to "scr*w" the opposition. We want you to win.

Just dumping a load of unorganized figures in front of the judge may cause the old boy's or old girl's eyes to glaze over ... and they may not be bothered to try and work it all out. Make it easy for them to understand and they might make the effort as they won't want to look 'stupid'...

I'll try and help - if you're not sure about using a spreadsheet...

Lisa...I think that would be fine. You've been making a big effort. Yes if you can put in everything from 9th Feb (or as Andy advises) Spreadsheets are really useful for manipulating data.

Hopefully Andy will be back on later today to give you more advice. I need to be offline shortly - I'll check back later. Sorry just spotted he's back on !

I have completed a spreadsheet of my husbands current account with natwest included are all transactions relevant to the loan. These have been taken from all statements sent to us from IRWIN and Mitchell they have said they are unable to go back any further with the statements when requested.

I am just about to complete a spreadsheet of the loan account they are claiming for.

I have loan account statements from the 10th Febuary 2004 (When the loan was refinanced I assume they opened a new account) and current account statements from October 2002 (Although my husbands original loan was taken out before this date) I have asked Irwin and Mitchell to supply statements back further than that but they have said they are unable to.

That is shockingly rubbish by NatWest. This is late in the day but they can get you statements for a lot further back than that. Is it worth me muddying the waters by posting EXACTLY how they can do that? or not?

Yes he is really well during the day anyway night time is a differant matter altogeter LOL, My other two children are 5 and 3 and I kind of forgot what it is like to have a baby in the house. Im getting bored already though of being at home and cannot wait until the end of August to get back to work and get my teeth stuck into something, We are hoping if everything goes ok with this that hubby can give up work and stay at home with the kids as I earn loads more than him now and childcare will cost a fortune with 3 kids

1991/92 they can go back on information. The October 2002 is a lame attempt. That is to the time of migration(NatWest Group IT system to RBoS Group IT system). First ever guide I wrote here under Nattie was about how to get statements from the point of view of the person ordering them. You want the instruction here?

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/natwest-bank/16402-how-order-copy-statements.html

(original thread). However, from the branch they type in

Back Office 04, 45 that has a menu of which they order statements(see above thread for how to order and what to do--three months at a time so it is time consuming ordering them). Unfortunately, where the office that deals with SARs do not have the exact same system so for reference, its the NatWest Archive(all of which I have posted on forums prior to this post).

We are not sure exactly when the first loan was taken out with NATWEST, We are 80% sure that it was in 2000, I will print of the a SAR and post it tomorrow, or do you think a local branch will be able to print statements that far back?
