Hi,

Has anyone ever heard of the above firm, Paddington Loans? I have had an email from them saying my loan application has been accepted and no further credit checks, ect and that they are a lender not a broker.

I have been doing some digging via Google, etc.

I have to send a PO for £49.99 to C Paddington at an address in Shropshire but the details on the form (Company name, DP license and Consumer Credit license) are for a firm called "The Slice"? [ADMIN NOTE: Please see post below regarding The Slice: CLICK HERE]

I do not wanna give out £50 to any old Tom, Dick and Harry as they say. Could this guy/firm and his site just be an agent for The Slice and this £50 a kind of brokers fee, as such? He is using there details but works for them as an agent, kinda?!

Feels weird to have a letter with one firm name at the top and details for another at the bottom?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards

Sew

If it is a pay day loan avoid like the plague. However if you send £50 off doubt you will see it again! Even pay day loans don't operate that way. However the likes of Yes & the lending group [problem] people into sending money up front for mainly non existant or guarantor loans

If you google it you'll find it's a broker - DON'T part with your money - you'll never see it again and they'll likely come back and offer you a loan but say you need a guarantor - stay well away!

Yes I have certainly heard of them. I applied for a loan and was told I had been accepted but was asked for £50. I emailed them and was told that they were the lender and it was a guaranteed loan. I sent them £50 recorded delivery but then didnt receive any paperwork. I emailed them seveal times and eventually got a reply and was told the paperwork would be put in the post that night. That was the 24 April. Nothing arrived. I emailed loads of times no replies. I eventually sent a recorded delivery letter to them and it was signed for but still not reply from them. When I think about it now I sent them an email asking for a phone number to contact them on and I had a email back stating someone had tried to contact me they dont have a specific phone number because they have agents all over the Country. I emialed Free Index whose website they were advertised on and they gave me a phone number but it was not Paddington loans. They have since removed them from their site. Does anyone know who I can contact to try and contact these people, I know I wont get my money back but something needs doing about people like these.

I got the same email from them so I printed off the form and sent them the money as I was desparate for a loan. I didnt hear anything back from them so I sent them emails over the next couple of days with no reply. I finally got a reply from them when I threatened them with watchdog and police action. They told me that they had not received my other emails due to their servers being down, I know this isnt true because I only had one delayed email report and it was for the last one I sent. They said they had just opened my form but due to the nature of my emails they would no longer be processing my application. Convenient how they only replied to the one email about the police, they have told me that I will receive my money back in due course. To be honest I doubt I will ever see it again. The only reason they replied was because I threatened to report them. They prey on innocent people who need money. I never even applied with them directly! My advice stay well away from this company!

After reading Cameront888 message I contacted Paddington Loans and threatened them with Watchdog and the Police and GMTV and what a surprise I actually got an email back from them reading as follows:

Sorry to inform you but after our underwriters have looked over your loan application, we have to inform you that this time you have not been unsuccessful and we will return your administration charge to you minus our charges for works already carried out at this time. I have sent them loads of emails and a recorded delivery letter and have had no replies but the minute I threatened them they replied. I will wait and see if I get my money back.

I have just received an email from Paddington Loans who have told me that their legal department is going to contact me because they apparently have seen what I posted and have told me that they will not be returning my money to me because this one little post on this thread could of cost them money already! I emailed them twice once politely and once threatening police action a week later, which one do you think they replied to?! Thats right the one threatening police action. I am entitled and I feel it is my duty to tell my story of what has happened with this company. You can make up your own mind after reading the posts from different people telling the same story on this thread!

Just found out myself Wentworth was a [problem], my friend applied with them. they even took the brokers fee twice from her account. My advice is always search a companies consumer licence number. Tyoe it into google and if it comes uo with a list of other companies such as payday loans, paddington, the slice etc do not touch with a barge pole. these companies are ripping off desparate people who see this as their only way to get much needed funds! why they havent been shut down i dont know!
