My first thought when I read this was "that's scandalous", however I am aware of certain conditions in my own employment contract when I worked for Nationwide which were somewhat vague but might cover some of the information discussed here.

I knew that there was a risk and I left because I decided there are some things which your conscience simply won't allow you to support.

When Natte left I got a PM with some very fine words about courage and bravery. You have provided shining examples of both and the irony in you losing your job has already been spelled out - you are precisely the sort of person who the public want to be involved in banking.

I was going to say I wish you luck but I really do feel something more positve than that so I'll just say I KNOW you'll be fine.

The views I express here are mere speculation based on my experience. I am not qualified nor insured to give legal advice and any action you take will be at your own risk.

Very kind words, Indebtstudent. Needless to say, I have been in the debankifying chamber, you know the one.

Don't believe the hype of the bank, remove the manual from a very bad position. Most of it has been extracted. In the early days I used to react to NatWest/RBS Group slating on the forums....as time has gone by, I am reacting less and less. I have an opinion, I am not scared of being sacked cos I was sacked. I am an ex banker and a jobless ex banker. BUT, I think I will be fine and I think I will be FIRING on all cylinders soon.

And I can tell you, I was a cashier for most of my working life, a thirst for knowledge and loved sorting out complaints embedding my knowledge and increasing it.

I am from a City that produced 4 spies against the state(some would say there was a 5th spy) and a university celebrating 800 years of history. We have a Carol concert every year on Christmas Eve and we have not one but 2 football clubs that are in the Non Leauge playoff positions as it stands today(for footie fans reference, my team is 3rd but i live closer to the team in 2nd--in walking distance anyway). Can you guess which University City I come from?

Your bank, Sorry i dont know u as natty.

My partner called me threw to the living room earlier today to say watch this and suprisingly when i was watching i was discusted. Later talking to Bo, brassed off, who told me it was you. This was Lookeast.

Seriously i did not think u were a ex banker who caused trouble as i only thought they would be hiding behind there big fat pensions and based in london. I honestly can say i have spoken with you and do not think you were capable of misconduct but hey if thats what they say then theres not much i can do about it.

Natwest are a nasty bunch of ppl they tried to get money out of my partner for a debt that they allowed to build up on a closed account.

That was 2003 so good luck in collecting now.

I hope you have sorted out a new job and i fully believe you are write in the bank charges campaign. Yes £38.00 for being £2.00 over drawn is rather OTT as it cant cost them £38 to deal with a automated system.

Good luck for the future and hope Cambridge is doing ok.

GM

BTW that was for you Nastybank if your watching as there is no debt.

What on earth can I say, Nattie. I am gutted over this. I think you have behaved with great decorum over the way you have been treated. I wish you every success for the future and I am sure you will be back in employment very soon. Take care my Friend and Mentor.

I wish I could say I was sorry. But for me, I'm just not sorry. I got suspended on 22nd January 2009 and exactly 4 weeks ago I got sacked in the lovely town of Bury St Edmonds in Suffolk(took some lovely pictures of the abbey there :) ). It was a fair cop. To be honest, I would have sacked myself in their position. Am having problems with certain parts of the manual still sticking in my intestines as they are extracted but most of the BS has come out ;).

I often wondered, when I was stuck in banking hell, if this kind of thins was covered by whistleblowing sort of rules. I mean if you went and told the organisation, in good faith, you are ripping people off and it is obvious would they act on this info?

I strongly doubt it.

Norwich Evening News 24 - Stacia Briggs

A few days ago I read this article. I have had no input into this article whatsoever and the Newspaper is reliant on the article in the Independent alone for their facts. The article is absolutely hilarious.

Of course if banks didn't use the cash we've given them to kick-start the credit market to keep their executives in ermine toilet roll and moated castles, we run the risk that these financial geniuses might take their expertise elsewhere. Insert your own hollow laugh

That was immense, I suppose you can always keep a section of that article in case anyone badly wants to know the definitin or irony

"When NatWest discovered that one of its Moneysense advisers had been genuinely trying to offer “Helpful Banking” to people in financial trouble, it acted fast: he was dismissed within days on the grounds of gross misconduct."

Genius.

This is an advance warning of a programme provisionally scheduled to be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on 21/04/2009 at 09:30am and repeated at 09:30pm. It is called "On the ropes" with John Humphries and was recorded a few weeks ago. There has so far been two "authorised" press stories on my role within the bank charges campaign(and a few I didn't authorise but were based on the authorised ones). This programme will give you a better idea from beginning, middle to the end for me inside the bank charges campaign and working for the bank in that period. Thank you to Radio 4 for the opportunity to do so.
