Has anyone ever sued over an inadequately satisfied SAR.

If so, how did you do it and did you win ??

My mortgage company (GE Money)(prats!) have intentionally sent me a load of inconsequencial rubbish in response to my SAR for info about my dealings/mortgage with them . . so as to be seen to have satisfied it, without actually giving the info i was requesting and entitled to, and now i wish to sue them into the next century if possible . . . has anyone been in this position who could help ?

HI symbio-dek

Can I ask what data it was that you requested and what they actually sent?

Has the time limit for compliance ran out?

Your first step will be to send them an LBA informing them of the shortcomings in the data giving them, say, 14 days to remedy the situation. Something along the lines of post 33 in the Ashwall thread havinastella linked too.

If this does not yield the desired results then you should report them to the Information Commisioners Office here. (The ICO may decide to fine them, which would be nice).

Then,sue.
