a bit off track but wondering where this would stand

I dont work for a bank but do work for a major insurance company. We charge £35 per chaps payment for all customers. this is obviously alot more than the banks charge so we would be making a profit on this also. i would have thought that as we do many of these every day the cost should be less, as solicitors can get away with charging about a fiver.

Hanna the cost to your company will be less & unless it's specified in your T's & C's as an 'arrangement fee' or other, probably unlawful.

Solicitors are not permitted to profit from such fees. They are only permitted to pass on the actual charge plus a small amount for admin totalling usualy £5
