I was wondering if anyone knows the answer to this.

My daughters have tried to phone up car loan companies and another financial institute to request a change of direct debit date to come out of their banks.

Each time the companies have said yes but will charge 25 pound or higher to do this.

Is this really allowed.

They are just trying to keep the finances straight and avoid charges from their bank.

The changes are for different date a few dyas later etc.

I would be grateful for an answer, thanks..

I don't know an answer but my wife is having the same problem with GE Capital for her car finance, they want £25 to change the date of her direct debit due to her workplace changing their pay date:evil:

Cheers

It really is money for old rope, isn't it?

How about a sharp letter to the chief executive of each of the companies involved, drawing thier attention to the practices being indulged in by their staff. The change of date is effected by a few taps on a keyboard, time taken -one millionth of a nanosecond, cost - zilch!! Do they want bad publicity or would it be more sensible to forego the silly, silly charges?

Write to them clearly stating the reason for nedding a DD change of date & tell them to send any charge or bill for doing this to Pay Roll Dept, Daughters Workplace. Yes the £25 is wrong but your daughters work are also wrong to mess everyone about for the sake of saving money/transferring systems/changing bank (which is no doubt why pay day has been changed)
