Hiya!

Wonder if anyone can help, i bought a tv from argos 8 months ago and it went pop right before my eyes. Problem is i can't find my receipt, i did however give them my details for the tv licensing people, is this proof enough? I am happy to have the tv fixed, i just can't prove i bought it from argos as i paid cash!

Is there anything i can do?

You don't need a receipt, you just need proof you got the item from them on that date.

A statement is normally sufficient but not for cash.

You're then relying on them having logged that transaction under your name and address details supplied, which they might not have done.

Have you been back with it?

No not yet, i don't drive and have to get a taxi, i don't want to lug the tv down to argos for them to tell me that they can't help me!

I can't remember the exact date of purchase, just the month. Is there a number on the tv somewhere that i can check with the company when it was bought?

Try phoning customer services at argos to see if they can pull up the information as you brought the tv. (Customer services not the store as the store won't be able to track the information), you could also try ringing up the TV Licensing people to see if they have it logged. Unfortunately if they are unable to locate the information (Argos have no requirement to store the information once it has been passed on to the TV Licencing), with no receipt and a cash payment you won't be able to get a refund/replacement.

Which model is it, there are a couple which only argos sell, if you have one of those you might be lucky.

You won't be able to see when the tv was brought with the serial number, unfortunatly serial numbers are not logged with argos, and it would have been the first tv picked out of the stockroom. To track a transaction you would also require the full date and approx time, so try the above to see if you can get anyway and post the cat no if you can please.

The catalogue number is: 529/2882 and has the same model number on the back of the tv that is in the catalogue: LCD32805HD

I have emailed tv licensing but had no reply as yet. I tryed calling argos customer services yesterday and wasted £4 in the phone waiting and then got cut off so i have mailed them instead.

Congratulations, as its only 8 months old everything should go without a hitch at argos.
