I have an online CC with HSBC. Now about 6 months ago I exceeded the limit by about £10 and was charged £25 for the privelage. It was a simple mistake as I thought my limit was £50 more than it was.

So do you think I'd still be able to go after getting a refund of this £25? However I don't have a statement showing this charge, would I need to get it first?

Also, they increased my credit limit by £500 without asking me, without giving me any notice or anything. I had to call to stop them doing it and asked them to send out the T&Cs of the account where it states they can increase the limit whenever they feel like it. That was a month ago and still no T&Cs sent out. Is this legal for them to increase without warning, notice or asking first? As the increase will go onto my credit file as extra credit against my name.

i'm not so sure about the the changing of credit limits, but for a one-off charge of £25 i'd try approaching the bank informally asking for the charge to be refunded as a gesture of goodwill to keep you as a loyal customer. Would certainly be worth a try anyway as the 'legal' route could be a lot of hassle for a comparitively small charge.

Good luck in getting it back whatever you decide to do :)
