I'm a resident of Northern Ireland currently banking with Abbey does anyone know if the law regarding bank charges is the same here?

It looks from the site that the law is Scotland is slightly different, however as the Abbey is registered in England would I be correct in assuming English law applies?

Any advice would be appreciated before I start the process.

The account will be goverened by English law and English procedure - although you will have to supply an English address for service of documents.

Also, if you calim, make it clear to them and to the court that you have told them that in the event of defening the case, should it become necessary for you to travel to England to attend hearings that in the event of obtaining judgment you aill ask the court to order the refund to you of any reaonable travel expenses.

Don't bet on getting them, but it will give you a fighting chance.
