Parking issue from Dec 2005

Hi,

 

Please I would like some advice, a parking ticket was issue on my car in December 2005, I was not in the country as at the time and I know my ex husband was the one who drove my car for that period.

I moved houses a year later, but it has just come to my attention that barking and Dagenham have now passed this case to the bailiffs and I am now threatened with huge cost of about £385.00.

I have tried explaining to the bailiffs that I was not in the country as at the time and can proof it because it reflects on my passport, but they do not seem interested, I have now approached the council to explain my predicament, but have also been told by them that because the car is registestered in my name, I am responsible for payment.

How do I present my case and make them see that I was not around and hence not liable for payment, is there a way round this issue?

Unfortunately, for council parking tickets the owner of the vehicle is liable.

 

The costs could be excessive though, have you been given any kind of breakdown of what they are for?

Hi,

I haven't requested a breakdown, I was hoping there was a way I can avoid paying the fine despite not being the one driving the vehicle as at the time.

I do beleive that if you can prove you did not get the PCN or NTO you can get the case taken back to the appeal stage and start over.

Thank you for your response, I still have the flight ticket and

my passport was stamped from late november to show i left the country and return back in January.

Can you please talk me through the process?
