2. Long one… I have worked for the same company for 16 years about 10 years ago I needed to borrow about £10k. I also borrowed other bits over the 3 years after but nothing since then. I had a good relationship with my employer and I was paying it back at about £100-150 a month. No interest on the loan. Think the total amount was £15k. There was never an agreement and I signed nothing nor did I ever enquire about the amount still owed, money was just deducted from my wages. In the middle of last year my employer died and the company was sold to another guy who has transformed the business, I didn’t really fit in after the changes so decided to leave last week. I had a call this week from the new MD saying I owed the company £14k and he wants It back straightaway or very soon after I leave. We did have a conversation about this money back in October and he said in the handover from my previous employer no history was supplied to what I had borrowed or paid back and that this amount was on the balance sheet with my name attached. He agreed to go and find all the info. Heard nothing more until this week when I handed my notice in. Currently I have 5 CCJ’s, no money and have no way of raising this money quickly. On the phone he was aggressive said I had 48 hours to come up with a plan. I asked if he managed to get the info I asked for previously and he said he had plus he has an email saying I agreed to pay £350 a month back in 2014. I never paid more than £150 a month. He hasn’t supplied me with any of this extra info and with his aggressive manner it makes me believe he may be bluffing. I would like to see a full breakdown to see if the amount is correct in the first place that I owe. Without that how liable am I for this debt? Any ideas on how to proceed? I know its a strange one but you guys here have helped me immensely over the years with my debt problems. I have a new job starting in March but won’t be earning much more money its just a nicer working environment.
3. Hi all, I signed up with BT Broadband, phone and tele however I've since been offered a deal with Virgin that I think is better. My Bt was due to start on Monday however I didn't get the packages that day as I wasn't in. They are still at the post office. However i phoned them today to cancel and they say as I'm out of the 14 day peace of mind period (which is shorter than the time it took for equipment to arrive) I can only cancel if i give them just short of seven hundred quid. To confirm, I have never activated any service and even if i had then it would only be three days I'd been using it that i could make a decision on. Is there anything i can do or am i stuck with it until next year now?
4. Hello all, I received today a letter from "marston High Court Enforcement Officers" : Strange thing is that I have NEVER received any letter, information or anything prior to above notice. ..but the stranger thing is that I NEVER drove a vehicle without a valid licence - besides on the date of this incident (13/06/2016) I was home off sick, after being hospitalised for 4 days (doctor gave me a sick note for 2 weeks) - I was unable to drive during this time due to heavy dosage of antybiotics & painkilles and the fact that my left foot was so swollen that I was almost unable to walk more then few steps (I had Cellulitis - which is an infection of the deeper layers of skin and the underlying tissue.). I think that this is happening because somebody either with the same name did that offence (and in some twisted way it ended up with me) or someone deliberately gave my personal information to avoid being fined for this ...in any case what are my options? How should I proceed with this case? Thank you kindly in advance for any helpful information, Mike
5. I was caught doing 51 in a 40 zone by a mobile speed camera in Feb 2016. I paid the fine of £100 and I have the receipt of payment and confirmation on my emails and the money was taken from my account as expected. Now, 7 months later, I received 2 letters through the post this morning regarding the same incident in February. One from the courts saying the have endorsed my license with 6 points and one from the DVLA with a fine for £569 which includes a fine of £440 + Victim Surge charge of £44 and "costs" of £85. It also states there has been a court hearing in my absence on 21st September 2016. It really doesnt say much else I've done some investigating and found that on 29th August 2016 the fine I paid over 3 months prior was returned to my bank account. what I can gather from the vague letters is that, more than 3 months after I paid my fine and was given a receipt, the money was returned to my bank without my knowledge now they're treating me as if I haven't paid my fine and increased my points and my fine more than 5x the original amount. I can't ring any legal advice as they're all closed over the weekend and so is the DVLA and I'm stressed out! Do you think they'll reverse the points and fine once explained? Has anybody has any dealings like this with this before? Thanks
6. I had to phone the company who build my computer about 6 months ago to sort out a problem and it appeard they missed something out it has according the invoice a standard sata drive a m2 SSD drive and a Samsung evo 840 . for the first time today i had to take the side of the computer off since getting it and i tell you the samsung drive is not there i can only see the m2 SSD and the mech drive . i have traced the sata cables and the only one i can see is to the mech drive the m2 connects direct to the motherboard . the samung does not show up in windows or bios either so physically its not there . Is it worth approaching the company after this length of time or should i put it down to experiance , thanks
7. Not to be confused with another case I have ongoing at the moment. Been trawling my Credit Reports regularly for some time now (only because they are 'free') and the only outstanding issue showing on them is an older Natwest account that Defaulted in late 2010. The default came about as I bailed out of the account with an O/D of about £2200 and the monthly charges were something like £28 + Interest. This was taking a significant chunk of my monthly earnings at the time and the Unfair Charges thing was ongoing. Now, the account is still shown as being with Natwest and I was expecting it to go Statute Barred before the end of 2016. However, as a result of fighting Cabot/Restons/Black Horse on a Statute Barred case I have been paying some more attention to the details. What I have seen is that at some time on 2013 the outstanding balance of the account went down by £39. I know I didnt make a payment to them or anybody else and not did I authorise anybody to do so on my behalf so where has this come from and what does it mean? Could this be an internal adjustment/refund/correction or would this be the value of the account that they sold? I 1/2 expect that they sold the debt for £39 (1.5%). Question is though, do I SAR them for a full copy of their records on me now or not? They dont know my most recent address which is important because the other case I am fighting has an element of 'address discrepancy' in it but as I dont recall receiving much on the account once it defaulted I dont really know how this one is being played yet. Chances are it is with a DCA already but they havent adjusted the account details with the CRAs yet so I have no idea if anybody is actively searching for me or not. I know Hillesden and Cabot have been nosing in my files but thats related to my other claim. If they have this account as well though then they do know where I am. What really bothers me though is that reduction of £39 and is this another 'Phantom Payment' or not? I guess a SAR should show that but does it then wake NatWest up to take another look at this account bearing in mind it is close to going Statute Barred (subject to where this £39 came from). As Cabot/Restons have already got one CCJ against me by using knowingly incorrect address details I would like a chance to try and kill that path off from them. Mind you, I dont see too many Cabot/Reston cases coming from NatWest so do their debts go elsewhere?
8. Hey all, just checking my wife's statutory report online for the first time in over 6 years using equifax and there is 1 account which is very odd, details below 13/12/2007 Account fell in to arrears in May 2008 and late markers placed on file, NO PAYMENTS made 100% sure since may 2008 yet this account was not defaulted until 29/6/2010, thats is more than 2 years after last payment. I know its only 6 months and it will drop off anyway, but is it worth me trying to sort this, this should have come off her file 2 years ago. Account in question is Communications Supplier from Bt Consumer and the balance is under £60 Thanks
9. After realising there are many craftspeople about.I thought it would be nice to open a thread for many that work this way. Whether full time or part time if there is such a thing. I realise many put many hours in perhaps for little return, but are happy to create. If you do such a thing whether for profit or fun tell us what you do and maybe send a photo or two that shows your craft. I do not know what many do but would like to know. You could make cakes, you could bake, you could embroider, knit, carve.I have not a clue what you may do but would like to know. Are you a craftperson.Working away somewhere in your home, outside perhaps.Where do you do this craft. And tell us how you are doing. What it makes you feel like.Does it stress you some times, does it fail some times, have you succeeded someway, made a few pounds perhaps. Have you because of the economy or other related things had to create there has been no other way to survive. To make a few pounds. Well let us see how many are about. If nobody another thought out of a cluttered mind.Made some space. Have some fun myself, but just starting so will wait and see what others create out of anything. And how you do it and made that first step maybe years ago.Maybe months ago, days ago, hours ago. Come on in and tell me. Wherever you are in the world come here tell us your story.Otherwise i will be failing and wondering where it all went wrong. And will not sleep for days. I am hoping to hear some Tales Of The Unexpected. If you are outside looking in just register here.We are a friendly lot.Only take a minute or so i do not want to tear you away from your creations. Link here. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/register.php Hoping to hear from someone. Tawnyowl.
10. THE ONLY THING WRONG WITH THE GOVERNMENT'S CALCULATION OF AVAILABLE PENSION IS THAT THEY FORGOT TO FIGURE IN ALL THE PEOPLE WHO DIED BEFORE THEY EVER COLLECTED OLD AGE PENSION. WHERE DID ALL THAT MONEY GO? Remember, not only did you and I contribute to our Pension, our employer did, too. It totalled 15% of your income before taxes. Read some More
11. Thought I'd post my recent experience of how it should be done by maufacturers and dealers. I drive a 2008 Volvo C70 which I bought locally from a independant secondhand car dealer in June last year. Recently the boot lid started unlocking itself and you could hear the catch 'cycling' as if I was holding my hand on the button. As it's one of these hard-top convertibles the boot is part of a massively complex mechanism that splits the roof into three bits, stacks them on top of one another and pops it all in the boot, I opted to bite the bullet and take the car to Volvo rather than risk it with a non-specialist. It was booked in and I was offered a really reasonable rate for the first hour's labour (half what they advertise). So I took the car to them, and within 40 minutes they brought my car back around the front of the dealership, gleaming inside and out and with a smile said "it's fine, it was just an error code that needed to be cleared, it's all sorted now" as he handed me the keys and ushered me into the car. I climbed out and went into the service desk to be told it was all FOC and would I like to take a voucher for a half price MOT! I nearly fell off my perch... Thank you Volvo! That's how you get a customer... Needless to say, the good lady wants a new car so we'll be back there at the weekend.
12. I am really needing some help. I have a house valued at £110,000 and a mortgage of £105,000 which I may need to sell. The only problem is I have a secured loan of £34,000 on my home through Picture (or whoever they are now) which has arreas of £650 and they will only get bigger as I am no longer able to afford the loan. What I am wanting to know is am I allowed to sell my home even though the secured loan won't get paid off. I am intending to rent if I can sell my home. Any advice would be much appreciated. I don't want to sell if I don't have to but will Picture?? take my home even if they won't get any proceeds from the sale.
13. Ello, What's the penalty issued to a business using the full electoral register (i.e. non commercial) one for gaining personal details for fishing expeditions? they deny ever fishing, but I've got their first ever letter to my address, which read something to the order of : Thats not the exact wording as I don't have it at hand, but it's just to give you an idea of what the fishing letter looked like. When I get a chance tomorrow, I'll get a scanned copy of it and transcribe it. But the example I gave above is pretty much the same as whats on the letter, just worded differently. 1) Can they use the full register? As it's rather clear on my local councils website that it's only used for Voting, Crime Prevention and checking applications for credit. 2) Can they go on fishing expeditions like that blurting my FULL name, account details etc... out to any old address like that? I would have thought that it should have been an anonymous 'please call us' letter as opposed to listing everything 3) Dependent on 1 and 2 above, what action can I take against these guys? If any? Cheers A
14. I've got a slight dilemma! A mama fox decided to den in "what was" my garden until the landlady decided to plough it flat. Until recently I didn't know there were foxes burrowed under one of the bushes. It's been a few weeks and I dunno what to do with them.. http://tinypic.com/r/2hd2wwp/5 http://Http://tinypic.com/r/32zq72s/5 http://tinypic.com/r/2i9nnrc/5 http://tinypic.com/r/2nkjc03/5 lol you can't help but love em But I really don';t know what to do with it! my brother-in-law is a vet and advised me to call RSPCE (which told me to drop it off in the park to fend for itself). I'm sorry, but I'm not a vet, but I am big and ugly enough to know that these little tikes 3won't get anywhere in the real world at this age without a mother.. I've called the police to let them know that I've taken some wildlife in (which they are ok with), called the council 'Parks and Recreations' department and they are ok with it. I was warned however that I can't have them as pets, which I understand.. So where do I start? I do realise they need to be dehumanised (as they met me) and need to go back into the wild. So who will take it?

17. Heya I've bui,t up over time an Apple iWorks (Numbers) spreadsheet which I use to manage: 1) WHo I owe Money to 2) How much I've paid 3) When I've Paid 4) Who I called or who called me and when 5) Who I get letters from or send them to and when It's been invaluable to helping me out. I've caught a few people out with their figures being incorrect, and shockingly enough, I've had compliments from quite a few of DCA's in the past at how organised I am Can an admin/mod/site team member look at it and consider for the templates section? I do realise it's MAC only, but quite a few mac users opt for using Numbers etc... rather than Exsmell OH and the file is attached Cheers, Adrian

They are the ones who will leave their seats several times to go for food, beer, or the toilet and who leave early before the end of the performance or the game is over. The folks in the aisle seats come early, never move once, have long gangly legs or big bellies and stay to the bitter end of the performance. The aisle people also are very surly folk. 12.The Coffee Law- As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your boss will ask you to do something which will last until the coffee is cold. 13.Murphy's Law of Lockers- If there are only 2 people in a locker room, they will have adjacent lockers. 14.Law of Physical Surfaces - The chances of an open-faced jam sandwich landing face down on a floor, are directly correlated to the newness and cost of the carpet or rug. 15.Law of Logical Argument - Anything is possible IF you don't know what you are talking about. 16.Brown'sLaw of Physical Appearance - If the clothes fit, they're ugly. 17.Oliver’s Law of Public Speaking -- A CLOSED MOUTH GATHERS NO FEET!!! 18.Wilson's Law of Commercial Marketing Strategy - As soon as you find a product that you really like, they will stop making it. 19.Doctors' Law - If you don't feel well, make an appointment to go to the doctor, by the time you get there you'll feel better.. But don't make an appointment, and you'll stay sick.
