  1. HI there I'm wondering if someone can point me in the right direction please. I'm in the early stages of reclaiming my PPI back on my Yorkshire Building Society mortgage, which was taken out in 2002. I have all my mortgage statements except the one for 2012, which I requested from them yesterday and they're going to send me. My main question is which of the 4 spreadsheets is the right one to use? I'm thinking it's the first one (StatIntSheet v101)? The PPI payments are paid monthly, but the amounts paid each month differ from year to year. Thanks in advance for any advice. Carol
  2. Hi Hope someone can help me here.... In 2004 I took out a secured home loan (ge money aka I group) for £7500. Single premium PPI was added to this for £1200 Also a broker fee was added £187 So now loan is £8887 I have repaid the whole loan as I sold the property in 2007 I never used the PPI and felt under pressure to have it as needed the loan at the time. Now I have ALL the original paperwork and also the FULL statements from throughout the loan. In 2011 I tried to reclaim the PPI via a 'claims company' who after four mths told me I had no case as the loan was sold by a broker (who now not trading) and the loan provider is not liable. This was the official stance from the loan provider. Is this right?????? The claims co closed my case. I was not charged any fee. But I hear many bad stori:lol:es of these claims companies as some are quite incompetent too. So now I want to try and claim again but without the claims companies. On my original paperwork the Signed Credit Agreement on an I Group letterhead (I Group is the loan provider) it clearly shows Both the loan and PPI so they were tied together. Do I Have A Case??? So where do I start?? What do I write?? Could FOS do anything?? Any advice would be much appreciated.
  3. When I purchased my house I used the services of a financial advisor who also sold me health insurance policy to cover the mortgage at that time. Recently on speaking to a colleague at work, she has the same cover for a quarter of the price I am currently paying. I feel like Ive been pressured by the FA to take out a policy that was far more expensive than I needed to be paying. Is it possible to get my premiums refunded for this, or do I have to forfeit them if I cancel it and move to a cheaper product? Feeling really let down by someone I thought was giving me sound advice.
  4. Today my gf has had back two letters, one from Mint & the other from Natwest after requests for CCA (mint) and SAR request with Natwest. Mint have stated the following: Does this mean I would also be unable to request SAR from Mint & reclaim PPI charges? As for Natwest, they have asked her to sign a form, provide evidence of identification "certified by a member of staff at any branch or a solicitor!" & "As the purpose of your request is unclear, we require some further information from you to help clarify what you are looking for" Are they for real? She'd have to take a day off work to be able to goto the bank just to get the ID authorised. I used the template letter from here & quoted 4 Credit Card account numbers and an insurance policy number.
  5. Hi, I was repossessed by Kensington Mortgages in 2008, and the fee's and charges before and during this time were awful. Would it be too late for me to now try and reclaim these fee's as I now have very limited paperwork left? Thanks in advance for any advice.
  6. Hi Everyone, I wouldn’t mind some help or tips in how to deal with reclaiming some money back on a payday loan mess that I got into a few years back. All of the loans were before the amendments to the short term loans credit rules in 2015, can I still claim they were irresponsible? I’ve read the really helpful guides on here and put together my complaint to the lenders and issued them recently. There’s a summary below of the amounts I’ve borrowed over the years: Wonga - 9,984.00 Quickquid - 11,500.00 Payday UK - 10,960.00 Payday Express - 1,065 Lending Stream - 280.00 Capital Finance One - 660.00 Pounds to Pocket - 1,500.00 Mr Lender - 200.00 Wage Day Advance- 500.00 Total £36,649 In short like so many people on here I got into a spiral of debt with payday lenders and ended up basically paying them off every month through my salary only to borrow again as soon as they were paid off. I also used some to pay others off, rolled the debts over and deferred payments regularly. I’ve complained to Wonga, Payday UK, QuickQuid, Capital Finance One, Pounds to Pocket & Lending Stream. I still need to submit a complaint to Payday Express and Mr Lender. A few queries I have at this stage are some of the loans go back to 2009, can I still claim back the charges and interest on these? What about if this was a continuous account that went from 2009 – 2013? It seems that the Payday UK was treated as one account with a continuous amendment to the balance and transactions rather than separate loans each time. I’m hoping to get at least a partial refund or cleared balance on most of the companies but would really like the loans and defaults removing from my credit file, any tips on how best to achieve this? One or two of the accounts were sold to DCA’s – Motormile is one that appears on my CRA files, how can I get aim to get this default removed do I need to pursue the original lender or Motormile? Any help that anyone can offer would be greatly received.
  7. Morning Continuing to go through all my credit card/bank account files and checking the grand total of Late Payment Fees and other such charges. Finally got to Barclaycard today. I have had a Barclaycard credit card since 03. I have just collated all the Late Payment Fees B'Card added from 05 to date. Interestingly - from mid 2011 until start 2014 only - B'Card also added a charge titled "Interest on default Sum". Before and after these dates B'card never isolated and advised this charge. The total of charges from 05 = apx £650. The total of compound Interest @ 29.9% = apx £2100 The sum total = apx £2750 My current B'card balance is £5k. So should I now write a nice letter asking for them to reimburse these charges? And also asking them to stop adding them on to future statements ? Thanks for any response....
  8. I will be travelling abroad for 7-10 days and will be signing off, I am on old style JSA and want to avoid if possible making a fresh claim for UC and make a rapid reclaim for JSA instead upon my return. Would it not be the case that if I signed off from JSA for one week to go overseas then I would need to make a claim for housing benefit due to a change of circumstances to cover me for the period I am on zero income. So I make my housing benefit claim immediately after I close down my JSA claim. Therefore I cannot go on UC due to me awaiting a desicion for housing benefit ? If you've applied for other benefits You can’t get Universal Credit if you've applied for any of the following and you're waiting for a decision: Jobseeker’s Allowance Employment and Support Allowance Income Support Housing Benefit Child Tax Credit Working Tax Credit Thoughts ?
  9. My partner bought a car through the now defunct Yes Car Credit, who I believe were owned by Provident. She would not knowingly have agreed to PPI, so she would like to check whether it was applied to the agreement without her knowledge. Since she had the load around 2002, and Yes Car Credit no longer exist, I am not sure how to go about helping her find out if she was missold. Can anybody help me with some advice on how to get started please?
  10. Hi I need a bit of advice regarding trying to get £626.24 from Expedia for car hire which never turned up at the airport. I paid by credit card Halifax hoping this would ensure if anything went wrong - I should have know. After repeated emails and phone calls to Halifax/Lloyds they told me they couldn't claim our money back as the car was waiting for us at the airport (which it wasn't) - they just took Expedia's word for it - what can I do. Below is an email I sent to Halifax outling all the details/times/dates screen shots etc On the 24th May I paid Expedia £626.24 online using my Halifax credit card for 11 days car hire in Corfu from 14th July 2016 to 25 July 2016 with collection at 10pm at Corfu airport *see screenshot. On the 25th May I called Expedia to add a baby car seat to my reservation. I was informed by Expedia to call the Corfu office to arrange this, they gave me their number 0030 2109735000. The car hire company in Corfu added a car seat at an extra cost of £33.00 which I agreed to pay at the airport upon collection. The Corfu office then advised me I would also be charged £18 for a late pick up after 9pm. I told them this was not included in the original price when I booked online and there was nothing on the website to say this was an extra charge. The Corfu office advised me to contact Expedia. Expedia told me to pay the additional cost and email them the receipt and they would reimburse me (see email screenshot). This concerned me so I did some research and looked at Expedia's reviews on Trip advisor with regards to car hire in Corfu which only increased my concerns. I was so concerned that I called the Corfu office a week before we went on holiday to check that they had a 7-seater car with car seat and that they were aware we would be arriving at 9:45 local time. I was assured by the people in the Corfu office that they were aware of my requirements and everything would be fine. They also took mine & my wife's mobile contact numbers. Our flight from Manchester (Flight# LS951) on the 14th July 2016 was delayed before take-off by aprox 30mins. We arrived at Corfu airport at about 10pm local time. We left the departure lounge about 10:20pm local time passing all the car hire companies and holiday reps holding placards with company logos and the names of people they were expecting. I checked each one asking if they were waiting for Mr Ewing regardless of whether they had my name on the card or not. No-one was waiting for me. I left my wife and four children, the youngest only 18mths old, whilst I made inquiries with every single car hire, coach transfer and taxi desk inside and outside the airport to find the car hire company without any success. I called the car hire company at 10:50 local time and got voicemail *see phone screenshot. I called back one minute later (10:51) and this time a guy answered who took my name & number, said he would look into it & call me back. At about 11pm it was clear that everybody who'd arrived on that flight had left and there was just me and my family in a very small, empty airport with one departure exit. Me, my wife & 4 very tired & hungry children stood around the empty airport and waited for another half an hour for a phone call that never happened. At about 23:20, with no sign of any car we decided our only option was to get a taxi to our accommodation at a cost of 101 Euros. At 21.38 GMT (23.38 local time) *see phone screen shot, I received a call from the car hire company wanting to know where I was? I explained that as we had been waiting at the airport with no sign of any hire car for over an hour we'd got a taxi to our resort. The guy took our phone number and said he would call someone and to wait for a return call. The 1st phone call was to see what he could do. The second phone call was to tell us he would ask if he could get the car delivered to us next day at our resort. The 3rd phone call was to tell us to call the office tomorrow morning to see what they could do as nobody was available. The following day they called me at 8:35GMT/10:35 local time *see screen shot, for 14 minutes. The lady I spoke to preceded to argue with me insisting that the car had been available at the airport as arranged. She asked me if I thought they were lying which struck me as odd? The lady said that the car could not be delivered to Sidari and if not collected by 5pm the following day, at the airport, the car would be hired to someone else. As we desperately needed this car I said that I would try to organise transport back to the airport to collect the car myself. I also said that I would contact them beforehand if there was a problem getting there by 5pm as my wife has a disability and is unable to look after all 4 children alone. After trying many different avenues to get to the airport (the local bus service & travel back would have taken about 4/5hrs) I just couldn't do it without realistically taking my wife and four children back to the airport in a taxi at a cost of another 101 Euros. When I called the office they promptly reminded me that they couldn't deliver the car and the order would be cancelled. I asked about a refund of the £626.24 I had paid weeks in advance which they said was nothing to do with them and I would have to speak to Expedia. I called Expedia on Monday the 18th July *see screen shot, to log my complaint. They said they would look into the matter and call me within 24hrs to confirm the refund had been authorised. They didn't call back. At this time I had had enough of the whole disastrous situation that had so far cost me £626.24 plus 101 Euros, numerous international calls from my mobile at my expense as well as taking up the first 3 days of my holiday – we never did hire a car which made everything more difficult as we'd chosen a secluded location because we knew we'd have a car. The day after I arrived home, 26th July, I called Expedia *see screenshot, who told me the matter was still being looked into and that I would receive confirmation of a refund by email. I am still waiting to hear back from them. I want a full refund of £626.24 and if necessary will forfeit the extra costs incurred as mentioned above. Please find enclosed screen shots of all phone calls made, copies of emails and other relative correspondence received from the car hire company.
  11. Good morning, My father has asked me if it is possible to reclaim a life insurance policy which he took out with Friends Life, actual policy was with AXA Assurance). When my father took out the policy he was not aware that the policy expired after 12 years (policy was taken out in 2004 and expired in 2016. He thought the policy was for the rest of his life and would pay out enough on his death to cover funeral costs etc. I have asked him if he recalls receiving any documentation confirming this either from them directly or through the post and he does not recall receiving anything advising him an expiry date. I have also personally checked through all of his paperwork and cannot find anything. I am guessing I would need to do a Subject Access Request with the organisation, where would I go from here would I follow the same route as a PPI claim, what do you believe our chances would be of succeeding. Any help/advice at all would be appreciated. Thank you.
  12. My husband recently engaged The Claims Guys to do a free PPI check for him (much to my horror) and surprise, surprise, they are now demanding payment of over £2000 for the first compensation pay-out (30% plus VAT). I object strongly to paying these jokers anything at all, but despite interrogating my husband, I can't seem to work out how they got from free check to binding contract. I believe he only signed letters of authority for 2 companies (he can't remember which ones) but we have already been contacted by 3 companies so I really don't know what is going on. Is there any way we can get the contract cancelled? Is it worth me trying to fight it? (On the grounds that they did not make it clear to my husband that he could do it himself or that he signed it under duress) Is there anything at all I can do, or do we just have to pay up and find some way of keeping my husband away from all paperwork in future? (For what it's worth, my husband is quite a successful professional - he is just hopeless at admin and anything financial...)

  14. Blemain say I owe them £2946. I have had the loan secured against my house since 2007. They keep sending me letters requesting payment. I'm unable to pay the full amount so I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to setup a payment plan or to even get some of the charges removed They used to charge you when there was no money in the bank. My money used to go in Friday afternoon, and they always tried to take it in the morning. They also used to take it out before bank holiday etc they charged me for that, and they also charged me for every letter they have sent. Any idea what the next step is? Been paying them £ 10 a month for a while, and I'm on a minimum wage.
  15. I signed on just this past Tuesday and today I checked my bank account and find that my JSA payment has not been issued. I am wondering as to why my work coach did not tell me at the time I signed on, as, surely there must have been some information on the system to say that it had been stopped ??? And why did he allow me to sign on if that is the case ???
  16. Hi, this is my first post on the site and I hope someone can help. I am self-employed, based at home and have 2 Limited companies (1 active and 1 dormant). Business has been very difficult over the last couple of years and cash flow has been a major problem. On the 9th July a high court writ was issued against my dormant business for £1,717.66 and Court Enforcement Services Limited were given the job of enforcement but I did not receive any Notice of Enforcement from them. On the 1 Aug, 2 enforcement officers came to my home (where the dormant business is registered) and said they were High Court Bailiffs and had come to seize goods. I asked to see the writ but they only very briefly showed my an Ipad type device but wouldn't let me examine it. They then just brushed passed me and entered my home through a patio door. I informed them that I had not received any notification which they just dismissed out of hand and said that we were now at stage 2 anyway. I told them I didn't know what they were talking about and needed to see the proper documentation. I asked what the amount owing was and they told me £3,399. I told them that the business was dormant and had no assets and they said that they would take whatever they wanted from the property and began collecting my laptop and printer. I told them that those items did not belong to the dormant company but I was told I had to prove it. I began finding proof for them and I also told them that removing any other items was going to affect my ability to work and run my active business. They ignored this. Having proved I owned the items I was asked if I was refusing to pay which I said I wasn't refusing to pay I just needed some time to get the money. I was told I needed to pay immediatley or other goods would be removed. They threatened to remove a horse transport lorry whose value is far in excess of the amount owed. I was able to prove that that vehicle was on a HP agreement. They also threatened to remove horses from our field. I had to repeatedly ask to see paper copy of the writ and they eventually went to their van and printed one. That is when I saw that the original amount was only £1717.66 and I asked why they were demanding so much more. They said it was down to the fees that had been added. I asked for a breakdown of their fees and they said they would provide that later but said that because I wasn't going to pay we were now at stage 3. I told them I still didn't know what they were talking about but they didn't explain. I had also been telling them that I could pay because I was owed money through my active business and the payments were due to go into my account at any time (I even had remittance advice notes from companies making payments but they were not interested). They repeatedly threatend to remove goods and apply more fees unless I paid immediately and they then began going round the whole of my house (kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, childrens rooms etc.) looking for things to remove, I told them I needed some time to make some calls and get the money, which I did. Luckily I was able to get someone to pay me straight away and once I had received the money in my account I paid the enforcement officers by debit card. They wrote me a receipt but failed to give me a breakdown of the fees. I asked for one but they claimed they couldn't get an internet signal to print it from their van. They said they would email it to me but I didn't get an email from them either. I emailed their office the next day and they provided this breakdown: Dear Sirs With reference to your email dated 2 August, please see below a breakdown in this matter as requested: Writ amount: £1,717.66 Interest on writ amount (@8%) from date of writ to date of payment: £9.46 Compliance Fee: £90.00 Enforcement Stage 1 Fee: £228.00 7.5% Fee of amount over £1,000.00: £65.41 Enforcement Stage 2 Fee: £594.00 Sale of Disposal Fee: £630.00 7.5% Fee of amount over £1,000.00: £65.03 Totals: £3,399.56 The above fees are inclusive of VAT at 20% They also added: "There is no requirement to actually remove goods for the Sale or Disposal fee and 7.5% fee to be applicable, the commencement of the process is sufficient for the application of the sale or disposal stage fee." Having done some reading and trying to check the facts I think they have charged too much because this was their first visit and full payment was made, no initial Notice of Enforcement was received, they failed to give proper notice of moving to the next fee stage, no 'Notice After Entry' form was given, nothing was itemised or removed, no control of goods notice was written up or issued. They also knew the exact total figure (Including the fees) shortly after entering the premises. They provided no explanation of that, or their fees and no explanation of my options/consequences etc. They were just very high pressure and applied more pressure whenever I asked a question. I am going to make a complaint to them because I believe they have charged too much and I think I should be refunded some the fees. I accept that they attended my property so up to level 1 Attendance on the fees scale is correct but above that I think is incorrect. Can anyone with knowledge in this matter please advise me? Sorry if my post is too long but I wanted to give as much info as possible. Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
  17. Hi I hope I'm On the right thread ...I sent in the reclaim letter to Santander regarding my arrears fee charges (Mortgage) and they've replied with a standard terms and conditions in contract letter could you please advise as to my next course of action please
  18. Re: GE MONEY. Hello, I an new here and am in the same situation as many of you with GE Money mortgage charges etc. I didn't know how to post my query, so I am sorry to do it on this post. Hello. I am new to this site, but have spent many days reading through the threads, looking for answers. I have been with GE Money with a mortgage for 9 years. I have 28 months remaining. Some while ago I fell into mortgage arrears (£704 - which equates to 1& 1/2 months mortgage) Subsequently they have been adding monthly Admin charges of £40 per month for 40 months and the last 7 months £50 per month. direct debit recall charges of 18 x £25. field Agents fees - 4 visits charged, only 1 executed. Total of these visits fees £274. Grand total of all of theses fees and charges £2,674. (Plus interest - although I do not know how to work that out - sorry. Back in May of this year 2016 I received a letter from GE informing me that they have transferred my mortgage to Kensington. These money grabbers have written to me stating that I am in mortgage arrears of £705.68 PLUS Fees and Security Charges of £1598.07. And that my mortgage account has an overdue amount of £2303.75. They also say "You are breaking the terms and conditions of your mortgage and it is important you make a payment to clear the total amount shown above. I understand that Charges and Fees cannot be treated as arrears. Arrears are missed contractual payments. I pay £493 per calendar month and have done so for as long as I can remember. I offered GE a paltry £10 a month extra payment back in February (mainly because I am on a pension and at that time had NO work) They refused and continued to add charges etc every month and then they transferred me to Kensington. I have my SAR from GE and that is where I calculated the fees and charges they have imposed on me. Do I go to GE for a refund of these charges or is it now Kensingtons responsibility. Thank you
  19. Hello. My wife recently, out of laziness more than anything, returned a document to Consumer Claims which suggested she may have had PPI on a number of accounts. One of the accounts with HBOS did have PPI and the company pursued this on her behalf. However when HBOS were corresponding they did this directly with my wife and not through CC. At first she redirected the correspondence to CC and eventually got a letter back to say that they did not feel that PPI was missold. My wife then contacted HBOS by letter and made further representations and a couple of weeks later got correspondence to say that the case had been reviewed and she was to be paid £878. They then took out roughly £75 for tax and she recived a cheque for about £800. A few weeks later CC contacted her to say as a result of their corresponding with HBOS a settlement had been agreed and she now owed 39% of £878. Two things: 1. As the payment was made as a direct result of my wife's correspondence and not the communication by CC which was refused, can I negotiate a lower fee with them? 2. As my wife only received £800, should CC be entitled to claim a percentage of the full amount including the tax as this was not awarded to her? Any help you could give would be very much appreciated.
  20. Hi I was going through my file of statements for a Store Card taken out in 03 and realise that there is a long list of Late Payment Fees added over the years. Creation has always been the company receiving my payments on behalf of the store. And has always been the company inundating me with calls when I miss a payment !! I do use the store card every now and again. I do pay monthly, sometimes clearing the balance in total, sometimes paying the minimum. sometimes a higher amount. There is currently £500 owing. I have added up all the Late Payment Fees. (Actually Creation changed the name to "Default Sum Fee - Arrears" in end 2008.) The fees have been £10, £12 & £22. From mid 2005 to date the sum total of charges is: apx £240. Compound Interest is apx £995 Total Charges + CI is apx £1235 So their statement says I owe £500. Yet I consider, given the above figures generated from a CI spreadsheet, that they owe £1235. So should I write to them a letter saying I want these charges + compound interest reimbursed to me??? In addition since Jan 2015 Creation has added "Interest on Purchases and Default Sums (if applicable). So 6 months of interest charges on their charges??!! This doesn't sound like fair practise....
  21. Hi everyone, after ignoring the loan that I took out with firstplus since I took it out I now need to take action and get rid. As they have passed on the loan I was able to get a copy of all transactions to date needless to say I want to cry! I took out the secured loan in 2004 for £40K with £8K as PPI so total loan for £48k, having just had the transaction history I have paid £77k to these people and still have £40K owing on the loan! Having read loads of posts previously and knowing how stupid and naive I have been in taking this out, I now need to take action and would appreciate any help in what I need to do first.
  22. How exciting. Those nice people at Rock Law who have been so nice trying to contact me from a Birmingham number - 0121 6152941 finally spoke to me today. Very strange because when I tried to call the number, it wouldn't ring. They were really keen to talk to me because they had been calling me repeatedly although strangely each time I answered there was silence. A loose connection I expect. Anyway, we finally spoke. Very nice guy called Gavin with a Welsh accent and he told me that he was in Swansea even though his number came from Birmingham very clever of these people to be able to do that and to be in two places at the same time Swansea is a very nice place I know because I've been there and he told me that I had some PPI which needed to be reclaimed and he also told me that every loan ever made by any bank in the last 25 years had PPI embedded in it and could be reclaimed. Wow and he was from Rock Law Rock like the stone and law like the police he said and he laughed because I think that it was meant to be a joke and he was going to send me an email to get things going but he wanted some personal information first and he really tried to persuade me to give him the information even though I said that I was worried about handing personal details over the phone to someone I didn't know but he was very nice and I nearly trusted him but not quite and so he said that he couldn't help me if I wouldn't tell him my birthday and I wouldn't so he went. Rock_Law_Gavin-2.mp3 And those people at Rock Law are very busy but they still find time to be very worried about my finances because they even phoned me again Rock_law.mp3 Call number one recorded on a Samsung mobile phone using the automatic call recorder app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appstar.callrecorderpro&hl=en no processing Call number two recorded through Skype using Amolto call recorder http://amolto.com/ no processing

  24. Please could anyone advise me on what to do next regarding this, as I seem to have run up against a brick wall. I bought my previous property in 2000 with a mortgage from Southern Pacific. The mortgage was redeemed in February 2004 when I sold the property to my son, who also took out a mortgage with the same company to purchase it. My son failed to make the mortgage payments and the property was repossessed about 2 years later. I no longer have anything to do with my son. Recently, I decided to try to claim back PPI from my earlier mortgage. I no longer have any paperwork relating to that mortgage, as it remained with my ex - wife when we sold the property. All I have is bank statements showing monthly payments being made to Southern Pacific, with a reference number which I quoted to Acenden when I made my claim. Acenden stated that they had no record of me ever owning the property or having a mortgage. The only details they kept coming up with were my son's. Despite explaining that I owned the property prior to selling it to my son, and that my initials are different, they could find nothing. Until a further phone call about 2 weeks ago when - at last - they stated they had found my details and gave me an account number, and promised to send my paperwork to the company dealing with my PPI claim. Then a few days ago, I received a phone call from the claims company. Acenden had sent them all the paperwork relating to my son's mortgage. I then phoned Acenden again, who stated that they have no record of me and my son's details are all they have. So back to square one. What can I do next to prove my mortgage existed, and have they committed a breach of the Data Protection Act in sending out paperwork relating to my son to a third party? Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you.
