  1. Hi.. First post on here so please just let me know if I do anything wrong. I've been reading through all the letters people have sent to Harlands etc but not sure they're specific to my situation. I was going through a tough time financially and cancelled the Harlands direct debit without letting them know first which I acknowledge was a massive mistake and has caused some issues. After the fine raising in price to something daft like 60 quid, I sent them this that I'd found on here - Dear Sir/Madam I refer to my membership at Xercise 4 Less gym in Kirkstall which was a month to month agreement. I cancelled my direct debit mandate in June but realise now that I should have given 30 days’ notice to cancel. Cancellation of the DD mandate was adequate notice of my wish to cancel. So I now offer to pay £11.99 for the notice period. I will not pay you any administration or cancellation fees. If you confirm in writing that you will accept the amount of £19.99 in full settlement of all that I owe, I will pay you promptly. If you fail to accept my offer within 14 days or you demand any higher amount, I will pay you nothing and my offer will be withdrawn. Yours Faithfully, Jack From: Harlands Customer Services Sent: 06 July 2018 10:17 ***** Subject: Important information regarding your membership payments to Xercise 4 Less Dear Mr ***, Please find attached a letter regarding your direct debit instruction, reference number for .... Xercise 4 Less. If you have any questions, please call the Harlands customer service team as per the attached letter, quoting reference number Yours sincerely, Harlands Customer Service Team I didn't hear anything back from that and they've carried on sending me texts / letters from Harlands to my old address. Today Credit Resolution Services text saying "You have been sent an email from CRS regarding your account. Please check your inbox... etc." I now receive a letter from them stating that I owe £140 pounds (Original £80, plus CRS £60 in admin fees). Re: CRS Ref No: **** Xercise4Less Leeds Ref. Yours sincerely For Credit Resolution Services Nuria Manson Collections Department Has anyone got any advice on what to reply with considering I've already sent an email saying I'll settle for £25? My monthly membership was only £9.99 and I didn't think I would have to pay any further for a service that I would not be using if I just cancelled the direct debit. Thanks for reading!
  2. Blemain say I owe them £2946. I have had the loan secured against my house since 2007. They keep sending me letters requesting payment. I'm unable to pay the full amount so I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to setup a payment plan or to even get some of the charges removed They used to charge you when there was no money in the bank. My money used to go in Friday afternoon, and they always tried to take it in the morning. They also used to take it out before bank holiday etc they charged me for that, and they also charged me for every letter they have sent. Any idea what the next step is? Been paying them £ 10 a month for a while, and I'm on a minimum wage.
  3. I have an outstanding balance on a capital one card from years ago . I was recently contacted by Cabot financial saying that they want to work out a repayment plan. My partner said that as it was from years ago I should send a statue barred letter to Mortimer Clarke the solicitors working on behalf of Cabot. Have been waiting weeks for a reply and a letter has come today from Cabot saying that I made a payment on 25th August 2011. I honestly don't remember making this payment but now they say I have to repay the debt. Is there anything more I can do? The capital one debt is not on my credit file do you think that Cabot will get this put on there? I am working hard to rebuild my credit file after some stupid decisions from years ago. Thank you in advance for any help
  4. Hi all, I've got a rental flat that I bought after the old lady who lived in it had sadly passed away. The tenant has contacted me as she has received two letters from a DCA regarding alleged unpaid utility bills from Eon. She called them to see what it was all about and they said they "couldn't tell her as it related to 'the people before' and asked her to pass on a case reference number and contact phone number! I told the tenant that she could disregard the letters but she's she's worried as they addressed them to her so I'm looking for the right reply to get them to cease and desist! Thanks in anticipation. Chris
  5. Hi I am new here and looking for some advice, I recently traded my car in via evans halshaws however my car was worth more than the new car. I was given a cheque of £180 from the garage £100 of that was a refundable deposit to take the car off sale till I got there the next day. I used ramsdens to cash the cheque as the £100 I took from my bank was set a side for my mortgage payment and the fee from ramsdens was less than the bank charged for insufficient funds. However evans halshaw cancelled the cheque so I spoke to them they are sending a refund to my card of £100 and sayins the £80 was a error. Trading standards have told me how to go about reclaiming it as it's contractually agreed but ramsdens are hassling me for the money 2 calls on day and one the next all of which were very abrupt and I was spoken to like a child, they have zero empathy for the situation I'm wondering we're I stand with paying them back as to just give them the £180 straight out of my bank would make my life very difficult financially I could however give them the £100 when it hits my bank plus £20 a week till payed off but they sent me a letter stating they are concerned about fraud taking place I'm abit stumped where I go from here. I'm not trying to get out of paying it I just don't want to sling myself for something which was out of my hands. Any help would be appreciated. I have never self with a company like this before and their practices and ethics seem shady at best. Just need to arm my self with some knowledge.
  6. Hello my son who is an aspergers sufferer took out membership with a local gym (paid for with his disability money as he is at college) to help build his confidence and hopefully make new friends. He went for a few months and then as he turned 18 his disability money was stopped through no fault of his own and he therefore couldn't afford to pay it anymore..he doesn't work as he is still at college two days a week. The gym sold his *debt* to a DCA and now they are constantly ringing day in day out for the money...he lives with his nan and it was her number the gym had and so therefore its her getting the calls. I have explained to the gym the situation yet these bullies still continue to try and get the money..where does he stand legally if anywhere at all please??
  7. Hi all, I was hoping someone could help me with a situation. My girlfriend recieved a phone call yesterday from a company called Red Castle Recoveries. They have claimed she made an online payment for 50 pounds a few months ago with a UK retailer. The payment never went through, unbeknownst to her, and the company sold her debt to Red Castle who are now trying to charge her 87 pounds! On the phone she told them she would be willing to pay the amount of the purchase once evidence was provided, but she wouldnt be willing to pay the additional 37 pounds which they claimed is "charges"...we are now awaiting the evidence, but there is no way she is going to pay the extra charges as she had no idea the transaction didnt go through...what are her options here? is she within her rights to refuse to pay the extra charges?? or will this affect her credit rating?? Would appreciate any and all advice... Many thanks
