  1. Quick question to all the gorgeous people here I have had a previous issue with Amazon and their Sellers and I have now had another. The first issue was a seller refused to refund or replace an item they sold me that went faulty within 5 months. Amazon would do nothing about it and the seller is still selling goods through Amazons website. Over Christmas I ordered an item that arrived faulty. I contacted the seller through the Amazon site and they said post it back and they would refund me. I replied to ask how they would refund the postage and had no reply. I contacted Amazon through their online chat and I had the following reply from Amazon: Amazon seem to be happy to list the items on their website and take payment but when there is a problem they refuse to do anything and tell you its down to the seller. Is this not breaching the Distance Selling Regulations?
  2. Yesterday, I purchase one of Amazon's lightning deals (Voi Jeans Men's Dutton Relaxed Jeans - £19.99) while the lightning deal was still active, in-stock and within the 15 minutes of placing it in my cart. Unfortunately, they have charged me £50 for these and despite repeated arguements via phone, e-mail and live chat, they are refusing to do anything whatsoever. I then contacted my credit card company to report this - but they just said that it is not fraud because I gave Amazon my credit card details. They also told me that if you give your credit card details to anyone, they have free reign to take as much money as they want from you and that this isn't "fraud"..... What can I do ???
  3. There are 306 posts in an Amazon Discussion thread most of it about woes experienced with Amazon Logistics deliveries to customers. See: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/forum/rss/thread/Tx21J8C0QW4MWV8/ref=cm_cd_tp_mdb_feed Amazon seems to be aware of the problem - but putting matters right is taking some time. In the mean time customers are fuming! Please publicise this issue so we can gather more evidence about what's happening, and apply the right stimulus for change.
  4. Does anyone else find this really annoying? Amazon adverts do not say on the main ad page where the goods are coming from and some advertisers even lie on their business info page where they are. LG Supply for example. Looks like a UK company with a UK address but goods come from China. You don't find out till the goods don't arrive promptly and you check the feedback and find someone else's goods came from China hence the long delay. I did complain about this to Amazon as this had happened before and they said 'check the business page for small print'. The despatch country should be clearly displayed on the original ad, not hidden away somewhere, and those sellers deliberately misleading buyers like the one above should be take to task. If ebay can do it why not Amazon, and what''s wrong with having a search option of 'UK ONLY'? Do you think that if enough of us demand at least despatch country on the main ad they will take any notice? I'm not that optimistic.
  5. I purchased a pair of expensive noise cancelling headphones from a 3rd party via Amazon at the end of January 2012, delivered in February. About two days ago one of the headphones suddenly stopped playing while listening to music, in what seems to be an internal electrical fault (cracking sound, swapped cables same thing). The headphones came with a hard case, they have been treated with a lot of respect and never dropped which can be easily observed by looking at the product. I wrote to the seller through amazon and told them the problem is clearly a failure of the product and not a result of misuse, so I would like to assess my options of getting a replacement. They supported it has been over 6 months I am using the product and there is nothing they can do. They suggested to try asking amazon for a replacement. Now all this sounds rubbish to me. The product broke down after 6 months of use...well, I expect headphones to last a bit longer than that! Before contacting amazon I wanted to understand better their role as an intermediary and my rights with SOGA? Also, the manufacturer appears to offer two year warranty with their products in the EU. However I have had some bad experiences going directly to manufacturers before and want to see my options with the retailer first. What are my options here? thanks
  6. http://oft.gov.uk/news-and-updates/press/2013/60-13 'The OFT welcomes Amazon’s decision to end its price parity policy, which restricts its sellers from offering lower prices on other online sales channels, across its Marketplace in the European Union from 30 August 2013..... The OFT continues to monitor the online retail sector and may use its power to investigate such price parity policies at any time. Throughout its investigation, the OFT has co-operated closely with the German Federal Cartel Office, which has been running a parallel investigation into Amazon’s policy, and has recently made a related announcement.' etc
  7. Amazon gives UK customers free MP3 download of any CD bought from retailer since 1999 via AutoRip Customers who have bought an album from Amazon will be able to download an MP3 file of the record for free. The newly launched AutoRip music service will enable customers to stream or download MP3 files from CDs, vinyls or cassettes bought since 1999. Amazon has struck deals with major and independent music labels to make more than 350,000 albums available through the service. From today, any new purchase will automatically be added to customers’ Amazon Cloud Player - where they can download it for free. The music can be downloaded as 256Kbps MP3 files, or streamed from Amazon’s servers to computers, smartphones and tablets, including iOS and Android devices as well as Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablets. http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/amazon-gives-uk-customers-free-mp3-download-of-any-cd-bought-from-retailer-since-1999-via-autorip-8676293.html
  8. :???:I bought a Dyson DC24 a couple of years ago. After less than one year something happened and the brushes stopped turning and it lost suction. At the time I was in the process of move house so I left the hoover and moved. 6 mths ago I bought another Dyson DC24 from Amazon. The same symptoms have occurred! Has anyone encountered this problem before? I am wondering if it is a weakness in the machine! Does anyone know how I can get the matter dealt with? I am finding it impossible to acquire a contact number or address for Amazon? If 'no', is it possible for me to contact Dyson direct? Please help ladycoke
  9. Hi guys, Got a odd one here. I purchased 3 laptops online via an amazon market seller.. The money was debited and the items delivered and signed for. Now the seller is calling me asking for £1100 per item extra and the pricing was a mistake. Either i return them or they will debit/invoice me for £1100 each item i bought. One item i have opened and used already. Where do i stand on this...anyone know?
  10. I have an amount of default charges relating to an Amazon card for late payment ( 1 day) - formerly Bank of America now sold to MBNA. They have refused any refund. I made a c omplaint to FOS. They responded and did not accept my complaint on the basis that MBNA had advised FOS that between 2005 - 2009 the average cost of default was £12 and that their judgement was based on MBNA's pre estimate of the cost. Is this correct? Grateful for any advice as to what to do next here? Is a court claim a possibility? My charges relate to 2012 thanks
  11. Entirely my own fault. I had an old address saved in my amazon account, it was the default address. I have since moved from this address, it was selected when I placed an amazon order and the parcel went there. At that address I was living with my landlord, I am not sure but I think he might have even sold the place and moved out. What is my position? Obviously it was a silly mistake on my part but is the person who received the parcel (old landlord or whoever lives there now) obliged to give it back if I go and ask for it? Kind regards, M
  12. Hi, I'm looking for some advice on the distance selling regulations and how they apply to a Chinese Marketplace Seller, selling goods through Amazon's marketplace. We bought a tablet at Christmas and it will no longer charge. Amazon say it's ou side there 90 day A-Z guarantee and say deal with the company it's nothing to do with them. The company says that it is under warranty for 12 months so they will repair it but only if we pay £25 for postage. As far as I'm aware the buyer should not have to pay for return postage if the goods are faulty. I don't think any buyer should have to pay for return postage when goods go wrong so soon after buying them, but even if we were prepared to pay for it, we could find ourselves in the same situation at a later date if it goes wrong again and they ask for £25 postage for another repair. Has anyone any information on this please Regards Chessa
  13. My wife bought a camera for £600 with 12 months warranty via amazon 8 months ago. The camera is now faulty and amazon will honor the warranty. HOWEVER....the camera is now not available and ceased production and has been been superceded by the next model which is £100 dearer. Amazon will refund us the original purchase price but not upgrade us to the new camaera so we are now with out a camera. I would have thought they have a duty to replace the camera to the next best available, is this right?
  14. We have all heard of the deadly ‘Amazon Fly Trap’ well now we have the ‘Amazon Market Place Trap’ equally as painful if you fall in it. This is a warning message really, although reading some of the pieces on this site it is nothing new and had I had been more on my toes and read more on the internet I would not have fallen in the ‘Amazon Market Place Trap’. I bought a "Nikingstore IDE/SATA Dual Slot Hard Drive Docking Station" on Amazon for £23.99. I received the confirmation email and again foolishly as I have been so use to and confident of Amazon’s system I just let it sit in my inbox. After a week it had not arrived so I emailed the seller only to find that they were based in Singapore and delivery could be up to 30 days. It did not take that long but when I went to use it; it did not work or not as it should. It even disconnected my BT home internet hub every time I switched it on and inserted a hard drive. I contacted the seller stating that it was faulty and I wanted to return it for a refund. We then started a series of emails back and forth while he argued the toss. It was not until I started an A-Z claim that he agreed to take it back. They wanted me to pay the £11.84 shipping and again it took a few emails for him to very generously offer to reimburse the cost of shipping!! But could I send it by surface mail as it was cheaper (£6.81). During this time I was also communicating with Amazon and it was not until then that I discovered that as a buyer we have no consumer protection at all in their Market Place purchases. When I bought my item there was no mention on the webpage that the company I was dealing with was based outside the UK so I think it fair to say that a buyer would naturally think they would be dealing someone in our own country. The way I see it is, taken to the extreme, we could have traders from all over the world supplying faulty or substandard goods to customers in the UK and Amazon just turn their backs on it as they offer no protection at all. Do I see this wrong, are Amazon actually aiding and abetting in allowing some of their sellers to rib us off and why should they do anything about it for they are actually profiting from it also. Being sarcastic does Amazon really care as in recent days we have seen that Amazon only cares about Amazon another way of just adding to the coffers, like the tax they don’t pay. They have said that I will get my £23.99 back (although I am still waiting) but it is on a wing and prayer that I will ever see the return postage again, and the faulty goods, well who knows, they will most properly we re-boxed and shipped out to the next punter and the process will starts all over again. I did notice on the Amazon confirmation invoice that they make reference to the United Kingdom's Distance Selling Regulations, “you have the right to cancel the contract for the purchase of any of these items within a period of 7 working days, beginning with the day after the day on which the item is delivered” They fail to tell you that you will have to bear the cost to return it even if it is faulty. In my case it was virtually half of the price of the item. As you will no doubt see I am a little angry about this although it is my fault really but I feel that I should speak out and add my story hoping someone might see it before they buy as Amazon will never warn you.
  15. After a bit of advice. Have a bit of a problem where I purchased some goods on Amazon from a business seller. I received the items the other day, but on opening the packaging - the item model is wrong. The items are not suitable for me at all. Now the seller's been quite good, and said that they will offer me a partial refund if I want to keep the goods, or said that they will arrange for a courier to come and pick the goods up, and offer me a refund. First time I've had a problem but I'm obviously concerned in case the courier picks the goods up, and seller claims they've not arrive or something? I'm assuming if I get some paperwork from the courier to say they've picked the items up this will be fine and if problems I can claim through Amazon still? Or not? I contacted Amazon who've told me that firstly, they wont get involved unless a case is opened, and also that the seller is under no obligation to provide me with return costs if I arrange for my own courier. Goods are over 20kg so concerned about the costs of doing that anyway.
  16. We bought a tablet computer for our daughter at Christmas through Amazon. This item has now stopped working (not charging up). We asked Amazon to replace or mend the item but as we are outside their 14 day period, we were directed to the seller. The seller refuse to respond. Amazon refuse to get involved further as they claim they are not the retailer. However, we paid Amazon so surely they are under the Sale of Goods Act and are obliged to organise refund or repair. Can anyone help us here, please?
  17. my debitcard recently got refused when paying for shopping obv on a tight budget, but i knew i had money left got back home looked at my online portal found a payment called Amazon prime for £49 debited 28/1/13 at xmas i got given a £50 amazon gift card/voucher as a thank you by someone i looked back at the emails/order details when i used the giftcard on 2.12.12 it had bit right at the bottom about auto sign-up to amazon prime scheme if i did not cancel in 30days. bit cheeky. but had info to cancel membership etc straight on the website to amazon unticked and cancelled it, however gave no indication about the return of the money taken. on the phone to amazon explained the scenario operator on a very poor IP phone sounding like a dalek stated that because i had purchased previously [2011!!] and paid by the debitcard [even though that item was super saver free postage] i had enrolled myself in the prime scheme. any subsequent orders activated the prime scheme and thus the card give almost 2 yrs before was debited with the £50 [incidently the £50 item i just order was free postage too on the ad] stated i was none to pleased about this, a bit of a sharp practice after a wee bit of to'n'fro, where i was told there is nothing that can be done i needed to read the small print!! i said ok i'll goto my bank and get it back under the chargeback scheme 'we won't allow that' said the bod.. i said you've no choice, you can't just decide almost 2yrs later to debit a card without any notification. said email was sent on the 3rd jan i said no nothing received etc etc went over again how can you charge me £50 for this prime scheme about instant express postage when both the items i've had from them were FREE POSTAGE. eventually got somewhere when i said i was going to terminate the call and expose them on their twitter feed and do a chargeback. told the money had been recredited there and then. i'll wait and see if it appears if not watchout amazon..incoming!! after all that i did a quick look around and found lots of people have had this problem so if you've ever used amazon and given them your card number and then ordered again check your bank statement carefully. DX
  18. Hi everyone, I have a little issue here with Amazon, it hasn't escalated into anything yet but just thought I would get some thoughts on the matter so I am prepared... Ordered a cooker hob from Amazon Store, sold by 4ZEN, requested deliver after 2PM. They sent notification of delivery date, to be 6th December. A delivery attempt was made at 1.35 on the 4th December. We called TNT who said it would be delivered the next day, the 5th December. Waited in all day and nothing came. We called TNT after 6PM on 5th December, they stated that they were not the direct delivery company (ParcelNet) thus they claimed they could not discuss the matter, I found this somewhat bizarre considering the ticket left on Tuesday says TNT and we called them on Tuesday and they discussed the matter then... We then called Amazon and told them we were unhappy at having been gived a delivery date of the 6th, then attempted delivery on the 4th, followed by a promise of delivery on the 5th by the courier. They were not really helpful, so we decided to tell them we would like to cancel the order. Amazon told us that they had to contact 4ZEN and it would take upto 3 days for a response from them, and that there was not possibility of a refund until the seller had been contacted and had the chance to find out what has happened... OK so now, I suppose we just wait, but in the meantime I would very much appreciate some thoughts and input on the situation in regards to where we actually stand in terms of legalities and rights... thanks all mrbrooks

  20. I purchase a I LUV docking station from them in 2 Oct 2011 as a christmas present, It was faulty and replace in 6th of June with a new one. so far good, Now the new one is failing less than 5 months and they are telling me that the Warrenty ran out as it is a replacement. If the product has a known problem why can I get it replaced or a refund? Amazon says it is their Policy and the Manaufacture says the contract is with Amazonm and the product is faulty and should be replaced as it is less than 6 months old.
  21. How do I get a refund from Amazon? I ordered some LED light bulbs for £6 plus £4odd postage and packing. They never arrived. When I enquired the tracking said "attempted delivery 18:50 on (date). I dont believe that Royal Mail would attempt delivery at this time of day, nor was there a card through the door, nor did anyone knock. I have emailed amazon who have in turn emailed the supplier "Cashbrokers" which sounds dodgy anyway. They claim delivery was attempted and the tracking now says being returned to sender.
  22. Hi, Bought a router through Amazon. Router kept dropping connections after about a couple of hours. Returned the router and obtained a refund for the router cost, however, Amazon refuse to refund the postage costs I incurred. I was under the impression that I should not be out of pocket when returning faulty goods? Any advice/comments would be appreciated
  23. I bought a yoghurt maker from amazon UK, It was from Amazon not some one selling on amazon. It is a severin yoghurt Maker with 14 jars. I received it this morning and when opened it I discovered that It had a European 2 pin plug. Not a British standard 3pin plug. And no adapter or any thing was included, so can't use it. No where in description on there website does it state that it comes a euro 2pin plug. Can they legally sell kitchen appliances like this with just a European 2 pin plug. I have searched on Google and came up with this THE PLUGS AND SOCKETS etc. (SAFETY) REGULATIONS 1994 REQUIRES most electrical appliances intended for domestic use to be supplied pre-fitted with a standard 3-pin plug that is independently certificated as complying with British Standard BS1363. There are some exceptions to this such as electric cookers intended to be permanently connected to the main wiring in a house. Items fitted with a non-UK plug (e.g. a 2 pin Europlug) may be supplied provided they have been fitted with an approved 3 pin conversion plug which must enclose the fitted plug and can only be removed with the use of a tool. Should the yoghurt maker have been supplied with just a 2 pin plug and no adapter or any thing. Is there any way to safely use yoghurt maker. My husband says he will cut off 2 pin plug and re wire a 3 pin plug but im not sure about this. As im not sure it would be safe would it and it would void warranty. So if after doing this we plug it in and find machine does not work we would not be able to return it. Is there a adapter that we could buy that would be safe. Should I just return yoghurt maker to Amazon. And If it is illegal to sell such a appliance like this with just 2 pin plug who would I report it to. Is it trading standards. Any advice would be much appreciated thanks in advance
  24. Just a quick question. We have bought a computer for our son from Amazon for £277.- and paid by debit card. (Not credit card) They despatched the item via Yodel but it never arrived. The Yodel tracking shows it as delivered with a signature comment as 'NULL'. No calling card was left and no item. We have CCTV covering the premises and again nothing on there to show an attempted delivery at the time the item was said to have been delivered. Amazon has offered a refund but I am not happy with that as the computers at that price are now all out of stock. I would have to pay around £100.- more to get an equivalent item. Would Amazon be liable for the differnce in cost to me due to their failure in delivering the original item ? Could I claim this to be my actual loss due to their breach of contract, i.e. non delivery ?
  25. First post, please dont kill me! Okay so I just checked my inbox whilst having a coffee and choked. Looks like Amazons closed my account! Ive returned quite a few things for LEGIT reasons, such as things failing (and me detailing proof of them not working). Yet, Ive just got an email, and theyve closed accounts of mine that were years old! About four email addresses. Email is below: Ive bought about a million things from them, and most of them still have their 1 Year warranties still rolling. Invoices are still on the account! What do I do? (Not to mention, ive still got Amazon Prime!) and have things that need to be shipped off to them in my hallway. Contacting them was pointless, responded to this blokes email, and nothing. Can anyone help? Lol Thanks, Aman.
