  1. Hi, I was just wondering if the Bill of Rights was of any use? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_of_Rights_1689 It's been likened to the "amendments" that the US statutes have, but does it really have any punch? Cheers, A
  2. I didn't mean to make it sound like I was putting words in your mouth. Sorry... But in general, if they can do what they like with my name, I might as well do what I like with theirs
  3. The government published my information for reference purposes. And Ethel, are you telling me now that I can advertise on my companies website something that reads: "My Company Ltd... The company that made 192.com possible" and get away with it?
  4. EU member states have a 10 year Limitations act... So it'll hang around DK for 10 years then be written off. Another thing to watch out for is quite a few the EU debt collectors have registered offices here (Interim Justitia is a common one for cross EU collections). I was in a similar situation when I left the Netherlands. I left about fl. 10,000 (5000ish euro then) debt behind and within a few years I had Interim on my case. Sadly for them, as I waist the UK, they weren't able to pursue it here as the debt was older than 6 years so what they did was take me to court (in the Netherlands) and get an order which I would have to adhere to if I were there. Luckily it's been cleared. just remember... They don't HAVE to know where you're moving to, it's none of their business.
  5. Indeed it is public info, but I never gave them permission to use it for commercial purposes. They're welcome to use it as they wish, but if they are going to profit off of my name I either want a cut or have my name removed. Surely, I've got the right to state how my own name should and shouldn't be used.
  6. I double checked and they've got my director info (as the company address dismay home address). I do understand that director details are public (and so they should stay) on the companies house website, but at no point in time did I give 192 or yell (yell is the other one I've noticed flogging my name).
  7. I didn't even know for the first 10 ears of being registered disabled that I was even entitled to anything. Despite having a grumble at the powers that be I gave up that ghost in search of better things
  8. if you want to check the status of a domain, do it the following way (to minimise the chance that its nicked by onlookers): Use the NOMINET "WHOIS" database, which is database of domain name registration details http://www.nominet.org.uk/uk-domain-names/about-domain-names/domain-lookup-whois/whois-tool That link takes you to the tool and in the search box, all you type in is WahteverTheDomainNameIs.co.uk and it comes back with a load of info... An example of this is me having just looked up google.co.uk, I get: Domain name: google.co.uk Registrant: Google Inc. Registrant type: Non-UK Corporation Registrant's address: 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View CA 94043 United States Data validation: Nominet was able to match the registrant's name and address against a 3rd party data source on 10-Dec-2012 Registrar: Markmonitor Inc. t/a MarkMonitor Inc. [Tag = MARKMONITOR] URL: http://www.markmonitor.com Relevant dates: Registered on: 14-Feb-1999 Expiry date: 14-Feb-2016 Last updated: 13-Jan-2015 Registration status: Registered until expiry date. Name servers: ns1.google.com ns2.google.com ns3.google.com ns4.google.com WHOIS lookup made at 05:22:37 11-Jun-2015 -- This WHOIS information is provided for free by Nominet UK the central registry for .uk domain names. This information and the .uk WHOIS are: Copyright Nominet UK 1996 - 2015. You may not access the .uk WHOIS or use any data from it except as permitted by the terms of use available in full at http://www.nominet.org.uk/whoisterms, which includes restrictions on: (A) use of the data for advertising, or its repackaging, recompilation, redistribution or reuse (B) obscuring, removing or hiding any or all of this notice and (C) exceeding query rate or volume limits. 9. Don't use sites like that EVERY to look up domains and their expiry dates. When it comes to the UK, the only people you need to check with is NOMINET (http://www.nominet.org.uk) They're the UK domain registrar of.. well the UK. They govern how the x.uk domains are used. Companies like the one you've listed rely on people to click through their list to find out which domains are popular.. From there, they cherry pick and buy them up for themselves.... have you noticed the number of decent domain names which resolve to really rubbish websites (i.e. pointless search results)? They keep them and horde them whilst trying to auction them off. And about the expiry time, that depends entirely on who they registered with in the first place. Usually, 30 days is the cap, but some companies offer an incentive to their customers bu offering a few months more leeway on their renewals.
  10. I double on Gimp.. Despite the somewhat iffy name, it's pretty nifty....
  11. Just to add to what dx mentioned... The button will usually be labeled at the top of the keyboard somewhere called "NumLock"... Often enough, if it's a laptop, you might have to fiddle and press the "Fn" button + NumLock at the same time to turn it off. This link will give you a download of a pic of a laptop keyboard showing what I mean... https://imageshack.com/f/12standardlaptop2j
  12. I thought I'd share here as I've lost a just amount of weight since my Doctors have stepped up my medication. Just a heads up for anyone else who happens to be on any of the following: 1) Methylphenidate (normal release) 2) Concerta (XL) Extended Release 3) Dexamfetamine 4) Lisdexampheramine I won't go into detail as to how they all work, but they've been stages in my life and when you don't keep a VERY close eye on yourself you'll waste away to something scrawny. not because you can't eat, it's mainly because you forget to eat or when you do remember to you just don't feel like it. From the coaching I'm going through, I've learned to keep a strict "food agenda".. Yip a diary on my phone reminding me with loud and annoying alarms to eat. After seeing some of pics of me from 2 years ago, iw as horrified as i thought I looked really ill! Hope this helps! Cheers, A
  13. Despite being the EU-cashcow, UK has ALOT of "tax beneficial" resources in the EU which could go to waste if we were to leave. I'm not to sure if they would even be affected as we would more than likely retain EEC status. When I first moved here from Holland, my firs job here was working at the docks driving cars on and off of the boats... Shockingly, Ford came from France and Peugeot came from UK! (great example of a tax effective transaction). Not only that, but as Britain has evolved into a "Service Nation" over the years, the services we deploy around the EU are mission critical to the income of the UK. Furthermore, I feel that being the "Capital State" of "the United States of Europe" as to put it, keeps us in the lead when it comes to general wealth. Becoming a loose cannon, and parting from the EU will deny that imperative status of being financially dominant. As meagre as it may seem (dropping a few pence here and there on the international market), makes a big difference in how everyone sees the country. As much as people thing that the UK ministers are the "patsy's of the of other worlds" they infect, are ours. Where do you think they all turn when a quake hits, when a tornado smacks through a few states, when diseases hit. As much as I disagreed with the notion of us brining back ebola ridden people to the UK for treatment, we maintained a strong proud stance of being "that dependable country". I think we should lead by example through the EU; If need be, force-resign officials of other countries and show them how it's done. As much as MANY people won't like it, I personally think that Cameron is one of the best things that's happened to the financial economy since Churchill.
  14. I've had a look around the web to see what people thought about StepChange. In the past I would have begged and pleaded for such help (well for the help which they advertise). I was just wondering if they're all up to what they claim to be as I have a few friends and family members that could do with their help.. Personally I found that loads of coffee, nights in, lights out early, and hardcore debt payments sorts it out Evil yes, worth it yes. The fun I got with the various (poor souls) working for the DCA"s on the way, priceless Cheers, A
  15. Hi, I've spoken to the ICO about this a few times, but they've told me that they don't deal with individual complaints when it comes to "Internet Media". 192.com persist to put my personal information up on their site publicly, despite having written to them on several occasions to request that my name isn't used to promote their company. Anyhow, I'm sat here, another year later, another release of the Voter Role and voila... There I am again... What do I do with these email exchanges I have between myself and them getting my name removed. What do I do about the ICO. Despite filling in their form here: 1) http://statics.192.com/rel-4b316/downloads/C01.pdf 2) The emails which are obviously automated i.e. 10 in a row (spaced out over a week last year when I had the same issue), all reading the exact same (yet with different fonts). I've had a thought about this. Never once did I give them permission to sue my details to promote their business. As a director of a company, I'm in two minds whether to pop them a surprise "consultancy invoice" in place of the usually yearly opt out (which I didn't even opt in to). Any thoughts on that? This is driving me moggy. Cheers, A
  16. Sorry, I had to share this Last night (well the morning before, on Wednesday), I was working away with the news chattering away in the background and voila... First time I've ever heard a news-caster lose it hahah Here's what I managed to catch: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/61211034/IMG_1681.m4v
  17. Hi, Since leaving British Gas, I called them up as soon as I moved, gave them my new address (logged the call, and the transfers thereafter as usual) and voila, was presented with a bill (just £150). 6 Weeks later, I get Moorcroft on the blower (some girl called Scarlet)... Heh, well I have fn flirting with her... In short, they didn't get too far with me... I got back to British Gas gas with a big "?" asking where the bill was so I could factor it into the other wads of monthly paperwork that I'm subjected to. Anyhow, They "didn't realise that I had left"... *sigh*.... so I had to go through a load of people to explain that I've moved, that they were called in time (weeks before I moved even as I was going to take them with me!) and they just never bothered to either call back or answer when i called. After moving to another company , I get "Moorcroft" on the phone again.. Despite all my pleasing and begging, Scarlet was busy and wasn't able tot make the call (BAH! Just my luck!)... Anyhow, I explained the situation to them ALL over again, who... mysteriously have amnesia and have no record dog contacting me at all. Despite reminding them of the dates, time etc.. of the calls, (the jokes we shares about Scarlet) they had no record. So this went back to British Gas. On to the Chairman! So i sent a stinking email to the chair (which of course was intercepted by his diligent "flack managers" and one of which called me up. Hours later, and weeks of frustration, they FINALLY took my details, (my actual new address), my new phone number, etc... and voila... I was given @20 which I was thankful for at the time. I triple confirmed with the manager at the time (although I think it was just a title they give their staff to keep people happy), that they would send me the bill (as I had a few if's about the final readings) and was guaranteed that I would (this came from the Execs office).. Now... 6 Weeks even further on... (today... well last night)... I got Moorcroft on the phone again. And seeing as the somewhat enchanting Scarlet wasn't available.. nor was I *click*... I'm at a loss as to what I can do about this. 1) British tarnishing the credit record that I've been bloody working hard at to keep clean 2) Moorcroft aren't helping (yet Scarlet dampened that blow) Literally all in all this has taken up a full day (working hours) to get to this point and I have a sh***y feeling that it will for a while longer. Any tips as to how I should approach this? Cheers, A
  18. What happened this morning to the CAG website? I've been up since 2ish and it's been down since then... Downtimes were between (vague on the start of it) bot: 02:45 and went live (within 5 minutes of) 04:20 (11/6/2015) Ah well... All's well that ends well!
  19. Watching two sparrows bicker over a feather which they found
  20. Hi I was wondering if anyone knows a decent site/company where I can nose about for holidays for single people. All of the companies I've looked at charge a premium for people who travel alone. It's annoyingly misleading when they advertise a trip and you only find out 30 minutes later after a battering from a sales agent that it's "based on two people" :-/
  21. Thats interesting as the LA is only allowing for £31.85 i.e. disability premium (not severe disability premium) as I'm on Middle Rate DLA.
  22. Thanks. I'm in the process of opening up a company and this isn't making it any easier Lets hope things go well and I can get shot of all this!
  23. Right, I see. In that case I'll have to just cross the fingers and hope for the best for the Discretionary help to get the small shortfall cleared... Thanks for the advice I guess that resolves this
  24. Hi, Can you let me know where you found these figures? It'd be handy to have something to quote them if I need to speak to them. I've applies for Discretionary Housing Payments (which are temporary) but they'll get me out of immediate crap. What's the difference between the severe and regular? I'm currently on Middle Rate DLA
