  1. I have been through the appropraite question to create an account and recieved the folloing message. I just have to wait now:
  2. By the way, here is the link and you can apply online http://www.natwest.com/personal02.asp?id=PERSONAL/DAY_TO_DAY/CURRENT_ACCOUNTS/STEP_ACCOUNT
  3. Hopefully the step account is the answer to our prayers (If they allow us).
  4. I too will try to obtain the Step Account. I might also trawl through the high street with all my details and try and get a checking account at various braches and let you all know my results. I do need a checking account, so I might as well put the effort in now before it gets heavy.
  5. I need similar advice to be honest. My crediot rating is very poor indeed and Barklays have denied me a normal checking account. Sorry about posting in this thread, but I do have information to pass on too. What I need, and indeed I am sure the original poster needs, is a checking account, for when the whole "I'm suing you" loses us our bank accounts. You can indedd obtain a minumal bank account in any bank. I believe that no bank can deny you bank account due to the law. The reason for this, is that things like pentions are paid in to banks now a days and an individual should not be withour a bank account for payments in. I have a "basic" Barklays account. This account allows me to use the cash machine to obtain money and I can also withdrawl over the counter. What the account does not allow, is Direct Debits and Standing orders. It also does not have an Overdraft facility. Also, I am not allowed to use the online facility that Barklays offer. I believe that every bank will issues a BASIC "cash card account", but that is all. The problem being, that I have a lot of people that I pay via Direct Debit and Standing Order and would like to remain doing this as it makes my life a whole lot easier, not to mention making savings by paying by Direct Debit. Please inform me if I have hijacked this Thread in an inappropriate manner and I will delete my post.
  6. Krystyna, you should really start your own thread
  7. I think you will find that those "little"interest charges are related to your overdraft interest charge. I think that your should ignore these interest charges as their is not legal limit on the amount of interest a company can charge. If you plan on taking the Interest in to account also, then your claim is very different, as the interest is actually on money that you borrowed from them directly, and they can charge what they like, as long as they have informed you of the APR. The charges on the other hand are unlawful and a seperate matter, as it has not effected them in any way, as they have not paid the Direct Debit and hence not put them at financial lose.
  8. It was keith Boden that replied to my e-mail asking for the postcode and sort code. My letter was not the DPA letter, rather the first letter asking for my charges back, plus interest. If anything, it proves they recieved it
  9. Personally, I would stick to the outlines of this forum. Anything outside of it may hinder your request for your charges back. Things I am claiming back: + Overdraft Excess fees (started at £20, then £25, then £30 as go) + Returned Direct Debit (£25 a go) + Returned Standing Order (£25 a go) + Interest on the above charges at the time they charged me (by using spreadsheet) That is all.
  10. Let me start. I found it by recieving the "Martin's Money Saving Tips" email. Thought, that is a great idea, and here I am going through the motions.
  11. No problem mate. We are in the same boat and going through this at the same time. We should all try and help each other as much as possible
  12. Just to clarify the word "local". I live near reading in Berkshire, but my "local" branch is actually in Fareham. I have tried to get it moved closer, so that I can talk with my Branch Manager, but Lloyds are not willing to do this. No doubt, this costs them money and hence is not something they wish to do.
  13. I posted it to my local branch. You can find their address on your check books.
  14. Phew.... I had a bit of a sweat on there. I think I "thought" myself into thinking I was incorrect Thanks for the heads up.
  15. Hi, I have sent the letter to the bank (please see LloydsTSB sectione for full details). I do have a question however about the letter. Are these amounts the correct ones to give: A. Amount of charges paid over 6 years B. Amount of interest as generated by the spreadsheet in the Library or A. Amount of charges paid over 6 years B. Amount of interest the bank has charged in Overdraft interest ???
  16. After sending my postcode and sort code via e-mail. I had a reply within a couple of minutes, so they are on the ball.
  17. I have had an e-mail back from Birmingham already asking for further information: I have of course supplied them with both pieces of information that they requested.
  18. Richard, I have done exactly the same mate. I posted my letter this morning for charges of close to £3000. I used the spreadsheet in the Library section to work out the interest individuall for each bank charge, as that is what you are entitled to. Then I used the Request for Payment letter and used the figures produced by the spreadsheet to fill in the required figures by the Letter. I then e-mail contact.us@lloydstsb.com and contact.us@lloydstsb.co.uk and I seperately, snail mailed the letter to my own branch addressed to "The Manager"
  19. Use your already fully utilised overdraft to pay for the court costs Hopefully, your lucky and not have to go to court. I am personally preparing for the worst case scenario
  20. Thanks Bankfodder, I will definatelydo that.
  21. I am starting this as a new thread, so that I can clearly see my own timeline and you guys can also keep track if you wish to do so. I have sent the standard letter from your library (many thanks for supplying this). Plus I have emailed 'contact.us@lloydstsb.co.uk' and 'contact.us@lloydstsb.com' with the same letter. The financial information I provided on the "stock" letter was obtained from LloydsTSB great Online service. This only goes back as far as July 2002 however. As I had obtained just less that £3000 (without interest) back to this date, I decided to put the claim in for that. I have also requested via the DPO that I have my records going back 6 years using the stock DPO letter supplied by your good selves. In preparation in what is to come, I will try and get down to the county court to watch a couple of cases, to prepare myself for the worst.
  22. I have posted my claim to my "nominated" branch in Fareham: 43 West Street Fareham Hampshire PO16 0BE I have also e-mailed a copy off to the contact.us@lloydstsb.co.uk address
  23. This number is no longer valid, could a moderator, please remove this post, or update the number.
  24. BTW, many thanks for bringing up this forum. The idea is superb. Who would have thought, that the major banks would be operating, just outside of the law!
  25. I have just worked out that since 2002, LlydsTSB owe me £2983 + Interest in charges. I have used the letter titled: "request for payment of charges" To what address do I need to post this too? I will keep you all informed of my progress. I am an avid Forum occupier and tend to over communicate P.S. Here is the code: 786GJKEE4
