  1. As mentioned above, the t&c's regarding penalty fares are quite clear! The RPI's must hear the same excuse day in, day out! And to think McNulty wants to close ticket offices and reduce staff on the railway!
  2. It's been like this for years, since I worked in retail at least! The main problem stems from the companies running to budgets, setting the wages for the store manager to adhere to and these budgets are set to the bare minimum required, with bank holidays and seasonal activity is taken into account. The store manager simply can't just order in agency staff and they often cost more than regular staff! If there is any flex in wages then it is often ridiculous! As a bar manager I was told that I could have £50 in extra wages for every £1000 taken! Back then, I was looking at an extra 8 hours for staff to sell roughly 400 pints of lager on top of what my staff are usually selling! Another issue is that shop unions, if any aren't standing up for this behaviour from the companies, not to mention that many retail staff are not part of any union for various reasons and even if they were, if there was a strike action on this, shop workers can ill afford to take an unpaid day off!
  3. Wait until the 40 days are up, then send the failed SAR letter (should be in the Library) giving them 7 days to forward the information. You can either threaten them with court (small claims asking for the data) or forward the complaint to the ICO if they don't comply!
  4. I sent my PPI claim off to MBNA last week. I had to wait almost the full 40 days for the SAR to arrive. Based on that, I'm half expecting them to respond in about seven weeks to tell me that they'll not be paying out!
  5. Again, thanks IMS! I make that a 23.23% APR! Easier than using 3 different spreadsheets at the rated APR!
  6. Thanks IMS, I'll have a look and see what the magic figures are! Last question, hopefully! Looking at the data, which reads like gibberish! It appears the APR has been increased a few times, so which APR do I use? The data reads as: July 08 Rep BT SPC APR Incr from 15.90% to 20.90% July 09 Rep Retail SPC 3 APR incr from 15.90 to 18.90% July 08 Rep CCC SPC 4 APr Incr from 15.90% to 22.90% Then 28th Jan 2009 Reprice BT SPC 1 APR inc from 20.90% to 34.90% Reprice Cash SPC 2 APR inc from 27.90% to 34.90% Reprice Retail SPC 3 APR incr from 18.90% to 34.90% Reprice CCC SPC 4 APR incr from 22.90% to 34.90%
  7. Thanks IMS, The APR from what I can gather is 18.9%. As there are no statements, should I make the statement dates the same date the PPI was applied or list each transaction separately? Is there a simple way to add the 8% or could I use an empty version of the spreadsheet?
  8. I have a summary of all transactions from the start of the account to the end! This includes all charges, interest and payments.
  9. I'm just in the process of sorting out my PPI claim on my MBNA credit card and have a few queries. 1) is the claim end date today or when the account was closed (which was June last year!) 2) is the interest for the spreadsheet the credit card APR or is it calculated at 8%? Thanks
  10. No, it was a general SAR that asked for everything. Whilst I did request any PPI payments and charges, I did not specify that the SAR was for the purpose of PPI reclaim!
  11. Thanks Brig, Just thought it wierd that after asking for information on all my accounts, including a list of all charges and correspondance this was the best they could offer! Ah well, another SAR to the insurance arm then!
  12. Seeing as this might be a long thread (unless HSBC get their act together!). I sent off my SAR to HSBC asking for information on all my accounts (this was made bold and in capitals to ensure they understood the request!). They have since sent me a nice 2 page letter giving me the details of a loan, and the PPI reference numbers for both the loan and credit card. They claim they couldn't provide me with further details as it is held with another Data Controller (cunningly titled HSBC General Insurance). The letter also states the information provided is free and therefore they have returned my cheque (funny as it was a postal order) - Which wasn't included in the letter! As there is a week to go before the 40 day deadline is up, should I write now and tell them they've failed or should I wait till it has expired and send the failed letter?
  13. Cool, I'll double check if the postal order was cashed too, that would be a big giveaway!
  14. Thanks CitizenB! I'll get that sorted this afternoon, which the Post Office say is when they would accept a claim! The SAR was meant for Santander!
  15. Just a quick query on this, I sent off SAR's to various establishments in order to query PPI and charges. All bar one has been delivered successfully - they were all sent recorded delivery and I have receipts to prove they were posted. I've double checked the address and it is correct (verified on this forum, another money website and the ICO's own website!) Should I re-submit the SAR or should I assume it has been delivered correctly and use "day of posting + 2 working days rule" for the deadline?
  16. I don't think the phone is "stolen" as the OP said it was working fine when he bought the handset and has been until recently. What I think has happened is that the original owner sold the phone to Cash Converters and didn't collect it. The OP bought the phone, legitimately. The original owner then decided to report the phone as stolen, either because it was't at Cash Converters or so he could make a "fraudulent" insurance claim. Which causes the Network Operator to suspend the IMEI and block it. As such, I don't think Cash Converters are at fault, however, they may have a process in place when such a situation like this occurs.
  17. Just after some advice, hopefully you can help! 1: Is it possible to reclaim credit card charges/ ppi charges after the account has been closed/ settled? 2: if so, I understand that a SAR request needs to be sent. I have moved away from the addresses that my debtors hold for me, can I still ask for the data and have it sent to my new adress? If so, would I just need to give them my previous address?
  18. I would speak to the network that blocked the IMEI and advise them that you purchased the mobile from CC, and you'd be happy to provide a receipt to prove so - assuming you still have it! It also could be a mistake on the networks behalf! Or as you say, an insurance [problem] by the original owner.
  19. Normally there would be a statement (usually in small print at the bottom) of the advert explaining the charges. As far as I am aware, by entering your number and clicking "ok" you agree to the terms. The company would then "invoice" Vodafone for the charges which are taken from your credit. If you dispute the charges, the first point of contact would be Vodafone and see if they would refund the charges or at least give you a contact number/ email address of the 3rd party. If you do not want to be billed in this manner you can ask Vodafone to disable the feature (again, as far as I am aware this is possible) though this would mean that you would not be able to pay for things like ringtones, music downloads and games if that is a feature of the phone you use!
  20. Could they mean thefts from the franchises on the stations (coffee shops ,newsagents etc?) And some ticket issues?
  21. Did his Birthday fall on the Saturday or Sunday? Also, what do they class as the working week, usually it's a Sunday to Saturday and normally paid a week in lieu. The reason for asking is if their working week is considered Sunday to Saturday and his birthday was on the Sunday, then he would get the new rate the following week.
  22. On what grounds are they dismissing your claim? Was it reported to Vodafone later than 24hrs after it was stolen? Was the phone left unattended in a public place? Or something else? The first two are the most common reasons why insurance company refuse to pay out on mobile phone claims.
  23. You could have an informal chat with your current manager to see if they can let you leave earlier before handing in your formal notice. Plus you could use any outstanding holiday to reduce your notice. Also, normally your new employer should have enquired to your notice period during the interview!
