  1. This is perfectly fine to do, as long as no other family member lives in the property (you). I did this previously but clearly advised the relationship on the form.
  2. Again, I can't see any issue here. Unless you have been given extra housing benefit for when you had disability and are still receiving this.
  3. The tax year closes 4th April 2012, and companies will roughly work out the tax. I assume she has not been paid for the end of April yet. The advance that she received in March may show wrongly on her pay slip in April and over taxed. However, when she receives her P60 she should be able to reclaim this via the tac office. The figure you quote in your post is this on March payslip? Is she paid weekly. On a tax code of 747L she should be able to earn £622 per month before tax.
  4. That may be the case, however I don't believe it will make any difference. They can not charge you with an offence if there is no relevant change in circumstances. They would only be relevant if they make a change. One think that could be an issue is that if you received Middle rate care on DLA and was given allowance for 1 extra bedroom due to care needs. If thats not the case I don't believe there is an issue
  5. Whats is her tax code and what has she paid to date in this financial year? Apr 5th 2012
  6. Dont think will effect this either
  7. last payment 2009. Unlikely to make any change to housing benefit.
  8. Is a cheque same as cash advance? You could get cheque paid to you and then transfer to Vanquis?
  9. Problem with paying cash is you will be charged the cash APR. Ask your new credit card company (if payment fails) can they pay by cheque?
  10. Update: Have spoken to Motability and have decided to keep car, with support from family members for future payments. Motability responded and dealt with this issue with 6 hours.
  11. Any advance payment is refunded pro-rate (minus cancellation fee)
  12. Came across this today online may assist - worth a read http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-17870704
  13. While Benefit fraud is wrong, perhaps you should have discussed with your mum before your reported her. Don't think I could have done it (the right thing)
  14. Thanks for your reply, I have emailed them and will update their response
  15. Hi Folks Ordered a new car on the motability scheme, when I was working and ordered some extra's (SATNAV, bluetooth and alloys) before the car was delivered I was made redundant. Telephone motability and made them aware of affordability issue and they told me to contact dealer. Dealer was not happy and advised I would have to pay cancellation fee of £600. Anyone on the scheme will know nothing is signed until vehicle is collected. Anyway bullied into taking car and all was going ok and took collection last October. My housing benefit has now been reduced by over £170 per month and I can simply no longer afford the vehicle and secondly due to health issues no longer feel comfortable driving. Motability are collecting my car on 1st May, and they are charging me £250 to take the car back. I really appreciate that they are a charity but all the extra's on the car (about £700) will be money they will recoup on the resale of the car. I have emailed a complaint to Motability about this £250 fee and wondered if anybody had any help or advise on how to deal with this.
  16. You may be entitled to more housing benefit if your carer needs to stay a few nights. You would have to report change in circumstances but not sure if it would effect.
  17. Could these emails be a way to possibly get a settlement?
  18. To be fair to motability the terms and conditions are clear when people sign up to the scheme. My understanding is that the car can only be used for the purpose of the disabled person. I think the terms changed in Jan this year and they may be available on the website.
  19. I thin Cashplus offer an account, but it may have a monthly fee? The co-op also offer a basic ban account and you may be able to do online. There is also think banking but they charge £15 per month. Natwest might offer the step account - although heard others say its not available now. Or if its for JSA you could try the post office. Finally credit unions are a great option if there is one near you
  20. What benefit is your husband getting? If he is claiming benefit then you would apply for ESA. If you had paid enough contributions then you would get contribution based for 12 months. If your husband is on a income based benefit its possible his benefit would stop, and then you should apply as a going couple for ESA
