  1. Thank you The Abused. I had just about given up hope of getting any help on the CAG, so your template is greatly appreciated. I will be sending it off shortly. Now if only someone would help with my Halifax current account.
  2. I have just had a frustrating conversation with Halifax customer relations about the £1/£2 per day charges saying that I did not agree with the new T&C's and due to personal circumstances is the reason that I have not been in touch sooner. As previously stated my concern is the length of time passed since the new T&C's came in and whether there is a come back to the Halifax saying they can change the T&C's any time as was stated at account opening. Another forum member has successfully claimed after going down the "I didn't agree" rout but they appear to be no longer visiting the forum. Any help with constructing a letter or with regards to any other pointers would be greatly appreciated.
  3. What has happened, has everyone deserted this site? Some posts on this thread have had no replies. I am not very good at putting complaint letters together and making them sound good. Could do with some pointers here if anyone is still around.
  4. Could do with some help with a template letter here folks, will soon be starting to complain:amen:
  5. The Natwest current account I had was closed in 2002, I don't think I'll be able to get statements for that. Unless someone knows different!!
  6. Thanks The Abused. I will post on how to upload the letters you sent to Halifax, they will be a great help to me. Thanks for your help.
  7. Hmmm. Still no replies, has everyone deserted the CAG forums? Was hoping to get a few pointers on this one, maybe not. Still, any help would still be greatly appreciated.
  8. Well done The Abused. I found out that the interest rate was hiked after just one missed payment, don't know why I didn't question it at the time but I was in the middle of changing jobs amongst other things. I am probably going to reclaim the charges first and then look into chasing the interest rate avenue. What are your plans for getting the overpaid interest back? Do you plan to go to the FOS? Myself personally am wary of going to the FOS due to previous dealings. would this sort of thing be able to go to court do you think?
  9. The account is over six years old, but the charges only started happening from about 3 years ago. The promotional interest was by means of a special offer mailing just over 3 years ago, I'd forgotten all about it till I went back over the statements. because it was a few years ago I wonder if I'll have any luck chasing the interest up. I know that the charges should be fairly straightforward though.
  10. In addition to looking into Halifax current account fees I also went through my Halifax credit card statements. I have charges totalling over £100 but also noticed that one of the charges caused the termination of the promotional balance transfer rate. I know that charges are reclaimable which I am about to do, but has anybody successfully challenged the forfeiting of their promotional interest rate? I would interested in finding out before I start the reclaim of the charges. Thank You
  11. No replies? Has anyone negotiated an overdraft repayment with the halifax? If so what did they request per month and what interest rate was given? Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated as i really want to know if it is worth pursuing.
  12. I have read through the main sticky thread about the Hfx charges regime and looked at bookworms, bigyeti and bigdebtors complaints to Hfx and am still unsure if it is too late to make a complaint and ask for proof of agreement and get overdraft daily fees back. My concern is that as an example: Halifax agree to revert to the old interest on overdraft outstanding T&C's which means roughly £30 overdraft interest and possibly £50 per month to reduce the overdraft ( it will really be reducing by just £20 due to the interest) which means I am paying £80 instead of £55 on average (the O/D fees with the £5 reward deducted) so paying 325 more on closing the account.
  13. Bankfodder, They are the £2 a day overdraft charges, not penalty charges, I am sure I read in the sticky that someone got them back as they asked Hfx for proof that they agreed to the new terms, which Hfx couldn't provide. Are your ideas on getting penalty charges back similar to the Govan Law centres current arguments btw?
  14. Unfortunately I have received confirmation from Natwest that the have destroyed (or can't be bothered digging out) the details of the personal loan I had. But I do find it strange that the Halifax still have details of an obscure kids savings account that was closed over 20 years ago!!! Oh well, never mind, just Creation then.
  15. Just thought I'd let you know that I've created a new post with regards to my Hfx current account. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?299810-Halifax-Current-Account-overdraft-charges-Is-it-too-late-to-do-anything-(2-Viewing)-nbsp
  16. This is a new thread following on from the sticky about the above subject about challenging the Halifax about the overdraft charges. As Hfx customers will know these charges have been taken for over 12 months now, I am wondering if it would still be possible to go back to the old structure and close the account, or is it too late? My points are: 1) I have another current account that I can have salary paid into etc... 2) I am currently being charged £2 a day by Hfx for being overdrawn which becomes on average £60 per month. 3) If I did manage to go back to the old interest on O/D method and have the account closed I would still have to make a monthly payment plus the interest, would this be the same as the £60 charge but taken in a different way? 4) Has anyone successfully closed their account after the new regime came in and got some of the £2 a day charges back because they did not agree to them? Any help, thoughts or comments on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  17. So would it make any difference if I still use the HFx as my main account, I'm still trying to work out if I'll be any better off!
  18. Hi Bigyeti, I have looked through all of the posts and can't find your letter, can you remember what you wrote or do you have a link? Did they refund each of the £60 a month charges or just the £5 overdraft charges?
  19. Hi Bigdebtor, I have asked about a low cost loan with no joy. Is there a template letter to get charges and interest frozen? I have read through this thread but cannot find that particular one. The interest charged before was less, by about £20 so it would better by a little, which is what I was referring to about would I be any better off. I am in the process of reclaiming credit card charges from Egg, but have already been rejected by the FOS, I now need to pay £60 to take my chances in court. I won't get very far with a hardship claim as I am working full time, I already tried that with bank charges. I always shop round for the best insurances etc... Thank you for helping
  20. Hi speedfreek. Yes, he really enjoys working with cars, tried to get the spoons to get maybe a placement in a local garage or a car spares shop, but no, it means them doing some work, all they do is have useless meetings. Interestingly enough, they don't seem to ask for feedback as to why job applications were unsuccessful, or have a database of suitable jobs or providers, all this was supposedly in the agreement when he started on the new deal, it seems to have disappeared . All running about, getting on the course, chasing jobs has been done alone, some help.
  21. As said, i have an awkward situation. I don't know if I'll be any better off putting my salary, DD's etc on my other bank a/c and paying £60 a month to HFX, it will take quite a while to bring down the O/D unless the house gets sold. the other bank said they will not match my Hfx O/D so that is not an option. If I did write to the Hfx and ask for proof that I agreed to their new T & C's would I get the £60 back for each month they have took it out? As I said, I feel it's a no win situation.
  22. Until I sell the house, unfortunately yes. I have a feeling it may be to late to do anything though
  23. Yes, I am certainly hoping the Ombudsman will agree with the adjudicator, I will certainly post figures as soon as I get them. As I said, the adjudicator recommended that Creation put me into the position I was in before the PPI and £200 for stress and inconvenience. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks
