  1. Thank you for the information. Sadly, the OFT can't seem to make much difference to this shower, can they? O'Leary just seems to think that any publicity is good publicity. Kind regards.
  2. Hello Char, how are you doing? Have you made any decision about what you might do next?
  3. I agree with loopinlouie. I don't really understand what the aim of this thread is
  4. I agree with Ms Smith about victimisation, nap. Hopefully, other caggers will have some ideas on what you could do.
  5. Hi Stinky. I've read other posts on this forum that recommend ringing the tribunals office, so I think that's the way to go. While you're talking to them, try to get clarification on costs and your worries. I'm not clued up on this, but your employers could just be threatening that as part of their argument to get you to give up. You don't say what costs are worrying you, but if they're talking about a legal rep, they wouldn't need one if the case is as clear cut as they're saying, would they? Please let us know what happens.
  6. Thanks, Elpulpo, I thought I might be on the right track. Good luck Stinky, don't be intimidated.
  7. That sounds awfully convenient for them, doesn't it? I won't say anything but my own opinion, as I'm a newbie myself, but are they in danger of being judge and jury here? Have you seen their legal opinion in writing? Don't worry about stressing, you're perfectly normal. Any thoughts please guys?
  8. Hi again Ms J. Is it worth asking ACAS about this? Don't give up.
  9. Hi there. This is not my area of expertise, but hopefully an expert will be along soon. I don't quite understand though. You've sent your schedule of loss to the respondent. Is that the company you're in dispute with, or a solicitor, for instance? I have heard about shedules of losses on this forum and thought they went to the tribunal, but could be wrong about that. If it's your ex-employer, are they qualified to judge what the tribunal will or won't allow? Sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick, but good luck with this.
  10. Quite so, Elpulpo. Go for the grievance procedure. Also, shouting at an employee counts as workplace bullying.
  11. Hello. Have you been through any kind of grievance procedure with the company?
  12. Their lives move fast, don't they? Are they as laid back when they want something from you? [i think I know the answer.]
  13. This has been mentioned before, but I know from forced regular use of Ryanair [no other carrier goes there] that they charge £5 per person per flight, so £25 each way if you do a return trip for 5. I'm not saying I agree with it by any means, just clarifying. There is something on this forum about the one card they don't charge for, but I don't recall the name of it. The last booking I made with Ryanair the other day was more transparent than it used to be about charges. I can't remember if they added on the charge for using a credit card after I clicked to accept the booking, like they did last year. I know there is a facility to click through for information on charges, but of course if you book online, you have to use a card........ As for admin, tax and other charges, they are complete mystery to me and seem to vary according to the headline cost of the flight, as in they seem to be higher for the cheaper tickets. I would love the OFT to look at this.
  14. I hope someone like Mossycat or Insurance Guy will clarify. I think what they may mean is that if you pay up-front for the year and don't claim, they will refund the balance if you cancel part way through. I pay my car insurance monthly and the way mine works is that a finance company pay the premium in advance for the year, and I repay them month by month. Subject to what the others say, you may have to live with this for the next 6 months and then cancel at the renewal date in July. Sorry this isn't what you want to hear, but as I say I would like to know what one of the insurance people thinks.
  15. As has been said before on other threads, if an employee suffers bullying or harassment by colleagues or management because of starting a grievance procedure, then this is victimisation.
  16. Hi there. I have sent you a quick PM about my current position. Some of it's fairly confidential. Somewhere else to look for information is the ACAS website. They also have a helpline if you want to ring it. It sounds as if your GP is on your side, which is a good start. Guys, what can spgm do about the company continuing to harass him or her during sick leave please? My best, HB
  17. Hi. Can you tell us what it says in the policy document about cancelling please?
  18. You're welcome, spgm. When I say have someone with you, I didn't necessarily mean the union, although that's still worth a try. Have you contacted them to see where you stand? In my case, my OH came to all the meetings I had, whether it was work or doctors/consultants. Have they told you, or does your contract say, what the arrangements are for paying you while you're off sick? My best.
  19. Hi Andy. It sounds odd to me, as a lay person. Hopefully, an expert will be along shortly. I certainly wouldn't sign anything yet. Good luck with this.
  20. Hi there. I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. I've been there too. Uncertain is spot on about your medical records. I was sent to an Occupational Health consultant after about 3 months. I was more nervous than when I had the root canal filling, but actually it wasn't too bad. He turned out to be on my side. Work didn't want me to see the report, but he insisted I should. I also found it very hard to trust HR. I think if you find it hard to speak to them, you might ask they restrict communication with you to letters only. Does anyone have thoughts on that please? If you can, have someone with you, for moral support at least, when you see doctors, etc. As background reading, you could go to Bully OnLine: bullying in the workplace, school, family and community, action you can take, stress, psychiatric injury, PTSD, resources, case histories, news and contact the media. It gives you a good insight into how these people think, and a few strategies that could help. You'll also realise, if you haven't already, that you are by no means on your own. My best, keep the questions coming.
  21. Hi Char. I still find it very hard to deal with you sleeping with this boss. How sure are you that he can protect you from redundancy? It can't be in writing, clearly. Do you have details of what your financial position would be if you were to be made redundant? I don't know how long you've been there, forgive me if I missed that in your earlier post, but there would be some kind of lump sum if you've worked for the company for more than 2 years. Have you investigated what you'd be entitled to under the benefit system? I really don't mean to be a wet blanket, but would prefer to see you retain your self-respect and your son's stability. Personally, I don't think any job is worth the loss of your self-esteem. My best.
  22. Hi Shifty. As you know, I'm not expert at employment law, but it does sound as if the works gp may not have broken any rules. I would doubt if going through the GMC is the way forward, but hopefully we can think of one. Guys, is there any chance this would come under a Subject Access request, I think it's called?
  23. Hi ee-bee. I'm very pleased for you and hope you can get on with enjoying your life now. Well done. My best.
  24. Sorry if this is off topic, but how would you stand with insurance if the safe was broken into or stolen. I thought most companies had a limit for the amount of cash they will cover.
