2012 Ford Focus Transmission Control Module failure
Hammy1962 replied to robmiller667's topic in General Motoring Issues
This model Fiesta has what I would call a traditional, hydraulic, automatic gearbox. It is the models after which have powershift. The clutch is automatic, powered and dual, the gearbox is traditional (more or less). The gearbox is a traditional synchromesh gearbox with 'powershift' dual clutch. It is the dual clutch in the powershift which can cause issues. This Fiesta does not have this. It might be juddering, it might be the gearbox, but based on the information I have it is not the dual clutch problem, it is something unconnected. Which is why Ford Customer Services have come back to you and said there are no recalls or issues relating to your vehicle because the issues affecting your vehicle are not as a result of the dual clutch issue. There is never any intention to insult. I would suggest getting a diagnosis at a local automatic transmission specialist. Unfortunately this will be chargeable as the recall etc. relates to a different type of gearbox. H -

Oh, I'm here Just waiting for you to arrive I'm good, but not even the mighty Hamster can change Ford policy. The two case's are with Ford CS. Proof of failure whilst covered under the warranty extension would help but it doesn't look like they have it. Not much to be done now. H -
No 1, stop putting passwords on personal items which are hardly ever needed. 99.9% of the time only you will use it, especially as it probably lives in your house. If they break into your house the laptop is the least of your worries. If you need to leave it somewhere unsafe temporarily password it and then take it off when you get back. Maybe the insurance co. can help. Are you sure it hasn't fallen down stairs recently? H

My Experience of the DART charge is different and I think I should defend them. Earlier on in the year i crossed south, did some work and went back north. I completely forgot to pay, both way's. Several days later i remembered, went onto the website and paid for both ways. I thought that was it. However a few weeks went by and i got two letters, the first one said if i paid by phone i would not get a charge as this was the first time this has happened. The second letter said i'h had my chance and it was £70. I rang DART and the guy couldn't have been more helpful. I paid the two outstanding crossings (Now i was two in credit) and he cancelled the charges. His advice was to use my two credits, which i did and set up a PAYG account. Now i don't worry at all. H

Diesel particulate filters - A Reminder
Hammy1962 replied to Conniff's topic in General Motoring Issues
Like a lot of posts on here this is a topic worthy of a long and comprehensive answer explaining all of the mis-conceptions surrounding DPF's and their often mis-understood operation, benefits and side-effects, some of which are mentioned above. However, as there is only one other individual who would understand the post (you know who you are!) sadly, it's not worth it. H -

When the children have stopped bickering the OP has to find out who their local MP is and attend the next MP's surgery. Get the actions put on hold while they are reviewed and a formal plan put in place. NOW..................................TODAY!! H

That's OK then, you pay your £90 and do what you want. H

OP I think if the 'lady' was your wife or daughter you wouldn't be speaking to her like that. Indeed, if she was a nurse, don't you think she gets enough abuse at work without someone adding to it, you don't know the circumstances of why she chose to drive like that. The correct course of action would be to pull over safely and let the car behind pass, whatever the reason. Confrontation never helps a situation. H

Why have you capitalised 'Owner' and 'Ford'. Forum etiquette would suggest you are shouting, unsurprisingly. Anyway, all your credibility has now been shot to flames by your reference to BMC Mods will now probably lock or delete this thread because of these responses which will be a Godsend as you spoil all you contribute to. A Ford Edge Fault which takes two weeks to repair........................ Driving to Spain...................... to see family presumably. A demonstrator would not be insured outside the UK. It is registered to the Dealer and outside of the UK, if anything happened you would have to prove you had the owners consent, this is usually in the form of a copy of the V5 or a release document from the lease company. Lucky you weren't stopped by the police. How did a 'small accident' cause 'limp home mode'. It is actually called LOS - Limited Operation Strategy, but an accident!! In any event it would not be the insurers responsibility to get you home. Nor the Dealer, Nor the manufacturer. European wide breakdown cover with recovery is widely available. Even if you were in your own vehicle, it would be repaired locally but not necessarily recovered home. As you damaged their uninsured demonstrator i think you should be paying the excess After all, if it hadn't been damaged, all this wouldn't have happened and you would have had a whale of a time, albeit, uninsured, good job you never ran anyone over. Which Dealer was it and where? H

Breakdown cover from recovercover.co.uk - unfair excess?
Hammy1962 replied to colin1096's topic in Motor Insurance
Because most franchised Dealers, most brands, nowadays offer free 12 months breakdown cover as part of an annual service. So, for instance a service at £150 gives you a service and breakdown cover which usually works out much cheaper in the long run. H -
