  1. I had three charges on account yesterday... totally £95.. rang Barclays Customer Service and just asked for them back, no problem ... and true to her word the money is back in my account today. Was told that they are able to immediately refund up to £100 per customer. I did push my luck and asked for my 4 grand, (different account) but was told that as long as there is no activity ie any dd etc., they will not apply any charges to that account until after the result of OFT case.
  2. Thats great news Lizzy:) brill that you got back more than you claimed for.. but is the overpayment equal to the new charges you are going to claim for?
  3. £95 back in my account today!
  4. Got some money back from Barclays today, it all started when I lost my connect card so phoned up to cancel it.... was asked, is there anything else we can help you with... so if you dont ask, you dont get, got £35 back without quibble on one account, and another £30 x 2 on my other account without question, then she started to give me a home insurance quote! I said, before we discuss that can we take a look at my joint account, the one I am taking you to court over... she looked but then told me that they are only allowed to refund £100 per day per customer at their discretion and as I had just had £95 refunded, that was my lot. In all fairness, she was very helpful, advised me to move the one DD I had on the account to one of my others, then Barclays would not add any further charges to the account until decision on OFT case.... then she said, but would you like this home insurance quote! She also told me that if it appears to them that you are trying to manage your account they will refund the charges immediately... so all of you out there who are getting more charges on you account, try ringing customer services;)
  5. Yes, I would agree with that and dont forget to check out if you are exempt from court fees
  6. It would depend on the judges final judgement, which we will have to wait on. Reading from other sources, it seems that the judgement will be on current t&c's which will also cover the historic
  7. Mr Justice Smith said he hoped his eventual judgement would give some guidance to county court judges. "There is every indication that my findings will translate to the historic terms," he said. "That could mean a decision on the historic terms in very short order - maybe within a month [of my decision]," he added. Hopefully that means all of us who have been on hold since last July!! In court, several bank barristers expressed unease that Mr Justice Smith's eventual findings might leak out in the time between him circulating a draft ruling to the parties to the case, and handing down his final public decision. So. the banks feel that they have something to worry about! Sounds like its going to be in our favour! 8-)
  8. thinking back on my oral stay fiasco hearing, the judge actually said that he was not able to stop the bank charging anymore fees, but of course these would be repaid (if the outcome was successful with OFT case). xxx;)
  9. Hi all, when I altered my POC (due to an error on my part in my original SOC) I filled in a N244 (no charge as I am exempt). but this was all pre OFT - and of course repayment is still pending! but I think I would keep statements and await the result of OFT case on the next move to take before paying out any more fees to court, if they are applicable in your case. Some allowance surely must be given for people incurring more charges since the stay situation.
  10. yes, I remember those days, had a lovely bank manager in the 1980's, Mr Cunningham, he used to ring me up weekly after my divorce to check everything was ok financially with me... that was another world! With regard to the "refer lists" that is very interesting and makes sense with my accounts now, on 2 accounts they charge and bounce and on the other one (the one im claiming on) they charge and pay out, I never did understand why, thanks for that insight.
  11. just because its a hp loan you were successful in claiming back charges on it still deserves congratulations. Claiming back any charges, especially bank charges, is a very draining and time consuming process, well done x
  12. but a pay back is good news! well done, only wish I had more luck than you with my claim which was started over 12 months ago and now caught up in the test case
  13. hey, did we miss something here! a payout before the result of the oft case!!! congratulations... do you have a thread where I can read more?
  14. but I could write to b's and ask for compensation for the stress and length of phone call lol xx
  15. cheers slick (had to go and look up IMHO..your opinion is always highly regarded!) Far too much on my plate as present... think more charges going on my account as we speak!... Feeling helpless whilst case is on.. nothing we can do but sit and wait. xxx
  16. wonder if I could put my bank charges up for auction on ebay.. would have to put a reserve on of 4K mind you
  17. must say "personal services" sounds a bit strange!!! I had a similar issue last week, an internet banking transaction for £28 which I did not recollect or understand... turned out (after hanging on to customer services for 30 mins) was the fee charged by barclays for a euro transaction, I asked, well wheres the money I supposedly transferred... mmm errr, its an error, made by our Poole centre, they have made a mistake with one digit...result, refund immediately. But should I take this further... what if I hadnt seen it!
  18. Why do banks charge a fee on 'insufficient funds' when they know there is not enough? received this as 'joke of the day' in one of those emails along with If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?
  19. lovely idea, only I havent been sent any new T&C's from Barclays.. or are they on a A5 sheet that I may have missed when battling with my bank statement?
  20. Hi MCM please dont worry about the 'rants' better to get if off your chest here where we can sympathise and help. I ve been pursuing my case for over a year now, the OFT case announcement came at just the wrong time! So Ive done plenty of ranting in here! Try and get another account opened, I have several with Barclays, so I was bel to transfer all the dd etc., to another one and have left the one im claiming on in limbo. Have you tried ringin customer services, I did last week and got current charges refunded with no effort at all - worth a try.
  21. and what exactly is 'free banking'... I m with barclays and have two additions accounts which have a monthly fee attached to them, well in fact as of yesterday now only have one, as I rang customer services to get the £35 they were charging me for bouncing a payment to virtually themselves, barclayloan. I didnt have to ask, the polite man, said i will refund that charge immediately an then proceeded to enquire why I had two additions accounts, there is no need to have to he said, I will refund the fee on one of them now and cancel.. I did ask for all the additions fees back, but think thats a letter job! Are the barclays appearing to be more helpful and this time I wonder?
