BACS recall - are they allowed?

Hi all, am new to this posting lark,so hope that if I am in the wrong place then some kind person will point me in the right direction. I have had a salary paid into my account that I have clearly drawn on, paying bills etc,I have arrived home to find a revised wage slip and a cheque for a different amount has come in the post. At close of business the company has then recalled the bank transfer leaving me somewhat overdrawn, can they do this without notifying me, could someone please give me some advice. Welcome to the site.This is a discretionary issue,although there may well be penalty charges involved.

First I would find out why the discepancy happened.

You should then go to your bank and try and get them to refund any charges that were applied because of this.

Keep us posted as to what you come up against.

Thanks Martin, have spoke to the bank (Natwest) and they have assured me that all DD will be honoured and no charges will be applied due to the circumstances and my previous good conduct on my account. I am more miffed by the actions of the company I worked for as I handed in my notice to finish on the 09/05/2007 but covered on a weekend till Sunday this week. I am gob smacked that they paid this money in and then it was withdrawn without a. letting me know and b. without my permission, I am under the impression that it was in my account therefore it was mine,clearly this is not the case!
