Hi,

Has anyone managed to claim interest on their bank charges from the FOS? The reason I ask is because RBofS recently made me an offer of £2.3K for the charges on the account. I asked them for £2.4K plus interest. I would like the interest not because I am desperate for the money but because

(a) they charged me interest on the majotity of the charges; and

(b) some of the charges were incurred when I was unemployed which at the time left me with no money for things like food and they were complete barstewards about it.

I noticed on the FOS website they will investigate claims only where they feel the bank hasn't made a reasonable offer.

I know I could make a claim in England and have considered this - but I have 14 other accounts that I am dealing with at the moment and would prefer not to have the hassle of filing in England.

HAVE YOU BEEN TREATED UNFAIRLY BY CREDITORS OR DCA's?

  • 1 month later...

Hi, Rory.

I've asked for Interest on both my claims through FOS. When I first contacted them they said, because I had waited more than six months after my Banks Final Response, They were not able to help me. I found another letter from my Bank offering me £125 on a claim of about £5,000 which was dated about a month ago, so I wrote to FOS and asked them again if they would take up my case. They replied saying they were passing on my complaint to their casework administration area to await allocation to an investigation team. Sounds good! Just have to wait now and see what they come up with.

Regards.

Scott.

We have had an offer through the FOS for all the charges plus a quarter of the interest to which we have refused as a final settlement.

We should hear back shortly as to the banks stance on this.

Gets a bit nervy at this point as we really need the money!

(like most people of course)
