Does anyone think that the banks will ever cut their losses and just pay everyone back so they can save on legal fees ect,or will they just keep defending their corner?

Hey it would be nice to think that they dread the postman delivering any nasty letters

I doubt it. My local job centre has an ad for admin assistants for

the banking complaints team. Ad goes along the lines of due to all the

publicity we need staff. £175 per day.

What would be really good is if all members donated a couple of quid to start a radio add campaign....you imagine "get your charges back

...all the advice and help for free on CAG". Then the flood gates would open Then maybe a television add campaign(wishfull thinking). The banks would be quaking in their boots, and so they should be..

by the way

I was at the Mini Bank yesterday and in front of me was a little old lady trying to sort herself out.She asked me if i did`nt mind would I check here balance .................................so i pushed her over

But what if the number of claimants costs and claims outstriped the actual money owed, wouldnt they "as a gesture of goodwill"(yeah right) make offers to all their customers to save themselves money.

Amount made by the banks in unlawful charges in 2005: £4.7 BILLION.

Amount reclaimed by CAG members (estimated): £4 MILLION.

As long as the numbers work that way, they'll never give it up.

IMHO I think the banks may become proactive and write to customers along the lines of:

Dear very loyal customer. We have noticed that in recent months we have applied a number of charges to your account. As you know this is part of the terms and conditions blah blah.

But we like you lots.

As a guesture of goodwill we would like to offer you a refund of £250 in full and final settlement of previous charges made. You are such a loyal and valuable customer (vomit).

This ploy will trap unsuspecting and poor customers with the thrill of getting some cash within 7 days. First week of December would be the best time to send the letters out.

Signing full and final will mean never being able to go back and claim again for the real amount.

Just a thought...

1970.

It's going to be an interesting year...

"full and final" would never work

if its unlawful, its unlawful !! you cant sign your rights away.

Basically if you signed a full and final and got your money, then noticed some more charges, you could go after them as well. You cant sign away your rights.

see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,

Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:

Follow your spirit; and, upon this charge

Cry 'God for Harry! England and Saint George!'

:D If you think I have helped, informed, or amused you do the clickey scaley thing !! :D
