I sent a letter (DPA) on the 17th, they replied today.

Say they tried to phone me and couldn't get through to me. They have returned my cheque and sent me a list of charges, which amount to £571.

All seems very straight forward and civilised.

MBNA kindly sent me a list of charges that they have applied to my account over the last 6 years. It amounts to £571. They did this free of charge, but said if I needed a full DPA then I was to re-send my £10 along with a p-hotocopy of something official (drivers license etc).

Anyway, I was wondering what the opinion was on MBNA sending the list of charges. Are they liekly to be accurate, or should I request a DPA anyway?

Obviously, the full DPA delays things by another few weeks, and I'd like to get this one on the road, but I thought I'd see what other people were doing.

Cheers everyone.

why not put in the claim for £571 and also do the DPA but make certain in your letter regarding the refundsthat you will review the final figure when all of your statements are received. If they are that sure their figures are correct then they won't have a problem doing it on this basis will they ?

I would do 2 seperate letters and state you would like them to be treated as 2 different matters

  • 2 weeks later...

Just sent the LBA letter today, so we'll see how it goes from there. Interestingly, I decided to request all my infor via DPA and sent in the necessary £10. I wrote a seperate letter regarding this, but also mentioned it in my 1st letter to Ms Susan Pemberton at MBNA.

However, I've just had my statement today and they have put the money into my account! Looks like they have never even read the letter that came with the cheque!

I'll hang on for a couple of weeks before I give them a reminder!
