GAS BAN IS HOT AIR

A FAMILY were threatened with bailiffs cutting off their gas because they had not paid the bill... but they have never had gas.

In fact, nobody in the village where the Mundy family live has gas.

Furious mum Lorraine Mundy, 47, said yesterday British Gas sent six letters to a "Mr Thomson" at their home, demanding settlement of a £200 bill.

Then she was told bailiffs with police would cut the supply off in Easterton, near Devizes, Wilts.

She said: "I repeatedly said we never had gas but they didn't believe me."

British Gas admitted: "We made a mistake."

In this instance I think we are talking of 'pipes' - not 'wires'!

Britsh Gas were convinced I had a Token (prepyament) electric meter despite two visits from meter readers who both said I did not have a token meter. The people I bought the house from had the same problem for two years!

The result was they cancelled my direct debit to pay them! Only got the problem sorted when I contacted EnergyWatch!

PMSL Crazy how this can happen as all meters have serial numbers and ALL these numbers relate to an address, sounds like simple checks not carried out.

After the meter reader checked the meter for a second time BG rang me to say that they could read the comments of the meter reader - that I had no prepayment meter but the meter reading company still told BG I had a prepayment meter. BG could do nothing until the meter reading company sent the correct data!

The previous owners of my property had the problem for over two years and spent hours on the phone trying to get it rectified - but at least nPower still took their direct debit.
